I purchased mine on 2/22/13--it said it would automatically back up my computer when I connected it via the USB port on my computer.
Its a Western Digital external hard drive storage USB file backup and storage unit.
I think it did when I first tried it, but I do remember it said it couldn't open certain files in the OS part.
I don't know what to do and really would like a computer guru to look at it and tell me if I can safely dump a lot of stuff from my pc and safely put them back as I need them.
Can anyone do this? I am willing to pay for this if the charge isn't way too exorbitant.
Please send me a PM to my Facebook profile page--thanks

Why not just go to Staples and ask their tech dept?

Sorry was away from the board, I will be glad to see if I can assist you. To back up the system using the WD software it basically images the hard drive making an image that you have to use the WD software to extract.

Western Digital's website has a plethora of info on how to use the software to back up your items.

The other side or option rather is that you do a whole lot of Copy and paste using the drive as a storehouse of sorts.
