Just kidding... BTW, the Red Sox clinched the AL East last week, are playing .601 ball and have the best record in Major League Baseball.

Just sayin'...

A high school friend of mine was at Yankee Stadium for game 7 of the ALCS between the Red Sox and the Yankees in 2004 (we grew up in Boston, so he was a Sox fan). He said there was a Yankee fan dressed as the ghost of the Bambino.

As my friend said... "I'll bet he had a long subway ride home."

You Yanker fans always make the same mistake. We're not talking about the last 86 years. We're talking about THIS year.

One thing is for sure. You're not going to see any pin stripes and bright lights this year in the Bronx during the post-season. ;\)

Of course you're a Yankee fan, gatorgrundge. If you weren't, you wouldn't be crowing about a 16 out of 18 record. Did you even stop to think that the only cry baby here is (wait for it...) YOU?

Actually, I'm not gay and Josephus was the name of a Roman historian. But thanks for showing everyone that you're a homophobe anyway.

BTW, I understand that the new Yankee Stadium has installed crying rooms. I recommend that you use one.

Oh yeah, Moneyball... aka. Sabermetrics. The system the Red Sox used to power themselves into two World Series in five years time and win them. The A's were smart and used it, and so were the Red Sox. Seems like everyone uses it now.

The reason I'm closing in 10,000 posts is that I've been around awhile and haven't been banned yet. The way you treat other people, it's something can't accomplish. 14 posts, huh? How many screen names have you been through before you got to gatorgrundge?

Aren't you late for your Klan meeting, btw?

I know the Sox used it. They copied it from the A's! Couldn't find their own secret for success so they stole someone else's. They tried to steal the GM too. Otherwise they would be pushing a Century without a WS win.

We'll be over around 7:30 after the meeting. No need to leave the porch light on. We'll have our own. As for being banned. Its never happened. But if it did, it wouldn't crush me like it would you. One screen name and 14 posts in 4+ years. Other things to do with my time forum rat. Now scoot along and make your popcorn for tonight's forum fun. Call a friend! You can start a monthly forum club!

Well, buy a clue. It wasn't the A's system either. A guy named Bill James developed it. And since the Red Sox were smart enough to hire Bill James to implement it, I'd hardly call that stealing. I'd call it a smart move. But then again, we're probably talking to a 12 year old who steals candy bars from the convenience store and sees it as "borrowing."

Ha! Boston fans. They'll want to live in the moment until next week when they are sitting with 26 other teams. Then they'll want to talk about 2007 or whenever they last won something. Too much trauma for the Boston fans handed to them by NY teams. Patriots and Red Sox. Please have empathy.

Implosion? Hardly! If you pull the 5 best players off any team for 95% of the season, tell me how many will be around still competing for a playoff spot the last week of the season. Please don't allow your Yankee hating cloud the reality. The Yankees are simply one of the most recognized and successful franchises in any sport. Cry all you want it doesn't change that fact. Get over your jealousy and see the light. You can gloat about Boston making the playoffs this year, good for them. Yankee fans don't need to year after year. They have been there, done that and know how to act like they have. I cant wait for these playoffs to start, I'll be rooting against the Red Sox just as much as I would be rooting for the Yankees. That's what makes baseball great.

Exactly right. Do NOT let the Yankees in any way get to void his contract then spend that money shopping this winter on another free agent. They signed that deal let them pay it. And Cano asking for 300 mil hahahahaha gotta laugh the Dodgers already said no way I figure that cost Robby 100 mil right there. The Yanks are old and getting older. Some one mentioned their best 5 guys being out most of the year. They are all over 40 high priced has beens. Yankee fans expect a playoff drought to last for several years.

The Frisco kid! What about your O's? Couldn't beat a 1/2 of a team of 40 has beens? Ha ha. Just disgruntled because when good ol Petey spent all that money back in 98 he still couldn't buy a winning team. As far as AROD is concerned...If he wasn't in the bronx zoo slugs like Wedgie and yourself would have nothing to whiiiiine about. Now why don't both of you crawl back into the bushes where you belong.

Raffy was not the original but sadly a part of what was rampant at the time. I used to respect him but he tarnished all his accomplishments as did many. He had such a sweet swing he could easily have produced without the junk.

All of baseballs records, all time records are tarnished because of steroids and other PED's. Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, Juan Gonzales, Cecil Fielder all the big HR guys all were juicers.
To me Hank Aaron still is the all time home run King and Roger Maris still holds the single season record of 61. All the cheaters are getting their just desserts via hall of fame snubs and I hope that continues.

I couldn't agree more... on all accounts. I have a huge respect for both Aaron and Maris. Yes... Maris, the Yankee. I'm also a fan of Mickey Mantle. Maybe not his lifestyle, but certainly his sheer talent and guts.

I Agree as well. As Mantle put it "if I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself". He lived his life on his terms and he was a hell of a player. I'm not a fan of AROD but I also don't think he should be made the poster child for all of this just because he made a lot of money and played for the Yankees. There are plenty of people to blame for it and it started long before he played the game. With that said, he will never be in the hall of fame as will none of these other guys. A cheater is a cheater no matter how much they make or who they play for.

Who... Price? ;\)

I might have missed it, but I haven't seen anything on Ortiz juicing up. Do you have sources I can look at?

From what I've read, the number of people on said list far outnumber the number of samples taken. And then, of course, there is a possibility of a false positive.

If he took them, he took them and should be punished for it. However, I do know that PEDs tend to result in personality that is quick to turn into a rage. That would describe what I observe as the opposite of what Ortiz's personality is like.

I'd like to see more evidence before I label him a "cheater."

Oooo. Good one, J! Me thinks "poster with many handles" in stuck on the riddle. Perhaps Sports ref can help him with the answer. I'd offer a hint but my guess is SF already knows the answer. ;\)

I have no damn clue what riddle you are talking about and i dont care! By the looks of your posts you show up only when the Sox are doing anything which hasnt been that often. I think its time for your Duck Dynasty group to go to sleep for another 86 years. 86 YEARS!!! Man thats a lot of misery. I'll bet you were around for most of it. You sure act like it with all the anger you have towards The Great Yankees. Go Rays! A's. Tigers, Dodgers, Braves, Pirates and Cards!

What happened gatorgrundge. Did your other screen name get bounced, ala. Harley?

Your Great Yankers are sitting on the couch this post-season. Get used to it. And remember... we're talking THIS YEAR, not any other year. I know it's a tough concept for you... but please try.

Once again...pay attention...."name the only yankee to die while sliding home"! Hint: Was probably the biggest whiner, self-absorbed prima donna, bully and boozer to don your beloved pinstripes. He personified all the traits your ilk adore, and weakly defend, whenever your bums don't deliver. Sorry! Is my "anger" showing? I don't suffer hypocrites well. (especially those with multiple post names). Enjoy the rest of this season.

Good pitching USUALLY shuts down good hitting. With Detroit having 2 aces in Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander I like the Tigers chances versus the Red Sox.

Pitching does the trick! Of course, the Sox have a couple of good pitchers too.

It's going to be an interesting series. Enjoy!

The series has just begun.
I'm going home through my house to roam,
To see if I can find a run!!!!

Ahahahahaha! Best seat in the house to watch that futile Blowsox effort. John the Molester outdueled by a team of Tigers!

With the aces awaiting, there is no debating
The sox will be home soon.
Another year of at least we were there,
And thoughts of that 86 year swoon.

BITE ME WEDGIE!!!!!!!!!

Well, well, well! Harley (aka. the Baby Blue Marine) yet again proves that he's too stupid to be able to hide his identity!

It's just the first of a seven game series, idiot... Have a seat on the couch with the rest of the Bronx Blowers and watch how real baseball teams play ball.

PS. Are you warming up this screen name for the next time your current primary screen name (PeoplesCommissar) gets banned? You've only lost four in the last four weeks. \:\/

Got to say... this one (Loser69) fits you to a tee!

I hear one of the Kardashians had to return her $750,000 engagement ring. It is said that it is the most expensive unused diamond in the world.

Except for Yankee Stadium.

I heard it on the radio. I only really enjoyed watching baseball with my Dad, but I guess you could say I'm a Yankee fan who has a sense of humor and isn't a big crybaby.

Looks like they did bring their bats with them... and didn't have to face Verlander again after all!

See you in Fenway on Wednesday. \:\)

Well... I'm pretty sure that one of them was... ahem, invited to leave to forums. That would be Louczar69, who is missing from the user's list now. I notice that PeoplesCommissar (aka. Harley, whom I think is also Louczar69) is also gone. Looks like the mods made good on their threat and cleaned house.

I'm looking forward to spring training also. I will be at the Orioles spring home Ed Smith stadium in Sarasota March 24th for the O's and Red Sox. See you there.

BTW, FK... I'm working with a guy who's dad used to work for the Oriole's organization. Don't know what he did there, but he knew the Ripkins.

Cool. Cal Sr was one Hell of a nice guy I talked with him in Rochester way back when. Players and managers were far more approachable in years past, especially in minor league parks. I have a ball I got signed by Cal Jr, also in Rochester when they retired his number. Never had a chance to get Billys autograph. Lots of other O's autographs too in my archive dating back to 1964 when they were with the Red Wings, and also from the annual exibition game they once played in Rochester. That sadly ended when the players protested so much having to give up a rare off day. A lot of fans didn't care for that it was like a slap in the face. Then her highness Naomi Silver switched the Red Wings alliance from Baltimore to the Twins in 2003 so I no longer care about the Red Wings. To this day I will attend a game or two and still see more fans wearing O's caps than Twins.

I didn't know that the major leagues had done away with the annual exhibition game with the triple A minor league team. That's too bad. I once saw the Boston Red Sox play the Pawtucket Red Sox at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket. Met Tony Pena there who was in street clothes. I was concerned that he was hurt, and then realized that the Sox weren't about to put their primary catcher into a game that didn't count and risk seeing him hurt. ;\)
