[LEGAL DISCLAIMER]The following is the opinion of a man who is know as being as a drunk king living under the main st. bridge...[/LEGAL DISCLAINER]
He is the "Public Defender" [b]and Keith Lord used to be the Asst. Public Defender.
He needed an assistant to help do nothing?
[quote=Mean Gene]If there was a conflict for both of them to handle a case for some reason, Diane Lovejoy would handle assigned counsel cases and would assign another attorney to represent an indigent defendant.
Ever a conflict? The man doing the job of Village Attorney, looking out for the Villages same interest and also being assigned cases as a public defender for anyone arrested by the Penn Yan (VILLAGE
) Police Department makes the man a walking contradiction.
If you are arrested by the PYPD and are represented by Brockman, and he see's the Village Police violated the law or someone's rights would he stand up for you as your attorney and expose the Village to legal risk? Or would he play a good Village attorney by being a bad attorney to you and sweeping what could "get you off" under the rug by being a good Village attorney and not putting the Village at legal risk?
Many have an opinion of you get what you pay for, which is true, but the idea of a public offender is to give those who cannot afford a lawyer a proper legal defense.
