Seems to me a schedule for SF pick-ups should have already been published.

I called the Town Clerk. There may be a pick-up in July, they are not sure at this time. If you have a large amount you can order a dumpster. The other option given was to take them to bins outside the Highway Dept. on Ovid St., across fom Trombley Tire.

I asked when I went there to pay my water bill. Yea, she said that a pick up was last month but I never knew about the bins outside the Highway Dept. on Ovid St. I have 2 large green leaf bags filled with only pine cones I need to dump so are you saying I can just go there and dump them?

Why the hell are people putting natural organic plant material (leaves, pine cones, etc. in plastic so it can be buried in the dump? It will decompose on its own. Put it in plastic and bury it in tons of clay and other people's trash where there is no oxygen, it will remain unchanged for years and years to come.

Does no one see how idiotic and unsustainable this is? Nah I'm just a "tree-hugger" and a "librul" and a "commie" right?

Some people make me physically ill.

Good point, if that's what's occurring, but are you sure that such material is being landfilled, from those pick ups, or those bins?

When people put plant material (leaves, grass, branches, etc.) in trash bags and then put it in trash bins or leave it by the curb with the trash, yea its going to the dump.

If any leaves..grass..branches are not in paper bags it won't be picked up...2 years ago we bagged up over 15 bags which sat at the road for 2 months...when I called for pick up I was told to put them in paper bags..sold at Walmart..Lowes...That was toooo much work to empty all those bags and start over so for $75.00 they picked them up in the plastic...of course we had a Village then too..LOL

Well, we are going to order a dumpster soon. Might as well cut branches off of 3 pine trees that are hanging to low. We mow the yard and get hit in the face..lol..

At the very least, branches are natures food. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

Not when they are covered in plastic and buried under tons of clay and soil where there is no oxygen for them to break down. They will remain there for hundreds of years. That landfill is utterly unsustainable. Learn the facts.

The leaves and branches and other organic material of such do not actually go into the dumpsters at the town barns there is a pile past the dumpsters for adding such material to. The only thing is no plastic bags for that material.

This is what I love. Because I see the COMMON SENSE of not burying organic material under tons of garbage, that makes me a hippy. I just love the ignorant, small-town logic. Anyone who is not as wasteful as possible is some un-American, evil hippy. It's not called being a hippy, it's called actually having an education in environmental science. Keep worshipping other people's trash.
