One more thing to keep people out of downtown. Bring back the regular parking meters.

All outsiders and tourists get welcomed with a parking ticket if they can even find a place to park. The system works once one gets the hang of it but it seems rather stupid to risk using a credit card for the sake of a quarter. But it IS Auburn and parking tickets are their major revenue source.

No kidding. I wonder, too, if one has past due fines/taxes, will the county will decide to help itself to a bank/charge account once they have the numbers to collect? I guess that's one way to get people to pay up delinquent fees. \:\)

In the last 6 months, I have been getting to Auburn every other week. I have been stopping at the Wegmans downtown for lunch. I THOUGHT it was free parking on Genessee St. where the steps lead up to Wegmans. Saved me the hassle of the crowded parking lot.

I NEVER saw the Pango signs. They are on lamp posts about 20 feet from me on either side. Finally I got a $10 ticket.

I won't be going downtown anymore. I'm not mad, just don't need the hassle of "kiosk parking". Not going to set up Pango just for Auburn and don't want to worry about having the right change. Too many other options where parking is plentiful and free.

Thanks but no thanks!

Same goes for the DMV. I switched to Seneca Falls three years ago. What a difference! Yes, you could have used the Wegmans parking lot, but that's a madhouse even just getting in and out.

I for one hate meters and parking with penalty. I feel Auburn could do away with it. I've maintained that Genesee St., between the loops, should be shut off, cobblestoned and turn the whole place into an Ithaca style "Commons". The arterial essentially killed downtown after the Lattimore days, so why not try something different?
