Maybe Congress should take a pay cut. 10% sounds reasonable. With so much outright waste, why even bother with peanuts like VA benefits, SS, and Medicare?

and we all let them. That's the sad part about it.
Can you imagin voting yourself a pay raise and the rest of the things they do for themselves at the expence of the tax paying people? Yep it's time to just cut congress out completely.
I have met several of them and all were IMHO metaly challenged
people when it came down to plane old common sence issues.
To be a union president and have to meet with these people
was nothing short of a huge joke. One fool that I had to meet with looked like he slept in his suit a few nights and had some questionable stains on his collar. "Honest" don't ask I will not tell.He was a total slob. Because he had 180 days in the corp he'd call himself a Marine . Marine my butt.

Strictly speaking, congress can't vote themselves a pay raise. Any pay raise they vote for and pass doesn't take effect until the next congress is seated. Of course, many of them are returned to office... and that's where the problem kicks in.

So this is really the fault of the voters since we keep voting the same people back in again for years and years and even decades. If we have term limits on the president I don't see why we can't have it on members of congress.

What is so difficult to understand? Congress can vote themselves a pay raise... BUT, it doesn't kick in until the next congress sits. If you aren't already aware of this, congressmen/women serve a two year term. SO... in order to receive that pay raise, they must get re-elected first.

So in essense, congress can't vote themselves a raise. They can vote the NEXT congress a raise.
