ODESSA, N.Y. -- One Schuyler County fire chief recently brought help from the Southern Tier down to Long Island to help with snow clean up.
Last week's snow storm dumped more than three feet of snow down state and near New York City, crippling some areas.
Odessa fire chief Mike Tomassi also works for the New York DOT. He was dispatched to long island after the snow storm to to help operate snow blowers, but before he could, he and clean up crews had to first overcome this obstacle:
“Just seeing the amounts of vehicles the people leave...your vehicle is your livelihood in our area,” he says. “There were vehicles after the storm and after we plowed...there were still just cars parked in the middle of the road.”
Tomassi says it was the first time in nineteen years of working for NYDOT that he was dispatched out of town to move that much snow.
