Using the above criteria, I find it an appropriate selection. Especially in view of the fact that Obama was not only elected, but RE-elected president of the Racist States of America. Regardless, you certainly can't deny that he has been a news maker.
Yeah, like 1988, when the planet Earth influenced events. I mean, we're still alive, so obviously Earth was there for us all, and I'm pretty happy about that, but "influence" events? That's a real stretch, even for Time.
Wait...I'm forgetting the Newport-Bermuda race that year. The fact that Earth worked so hard to provide oceans in 1988 influenced whether or not they decided to race. Yeah...that must be it!
