Sadly $40,000 only seems like a lot of money out here in Stickville. The attitude that no one is worth anything, especially if they are a government employee is flawed. The point is a clerk to the part-time town Supervisor is proposed to make more or as much as a Teacher with a masters degree. Chill It amuses me that the Budget that Bove and Earle attacked that Pete Same prepared for the FIRST year after dissolution is a budget that was right on target! So much so, Earle stated he changed very little for 2013. Where are the Pete Same Budget Bashers? If Bove sticks to his statements in last months paper, then to make up the $40,000 dollar salary for the copy clerk for Don Earle then some existing personal are going to take some big cuts. Ouch for them! BTW - If Pete Same could prepare a dissolution Budget and have it be in such great shape without a clerk then why does Earle need a $40,000 clerk? Maybe he should ask Pete if he wants a job.

Or is it really possible that he just doesn't give a damn how some people feel about his decisions? I'm just curious (because I really don't know the answer), do any other supervisors have clerks that are full time? I don't even know where I would look to find out.

Shouldn't there be annual performance dialogues to ascertain how accurate job descriptions are and how well (or not) the jobs are being performed. The pay scale should be determined by fair market value (what comparable positions are paid in this geographic area? I don't know if this is the procedure followed but it is my opinion on how stuff like this salary debate should be handled. By the way, I would be very surprised if many clerical/secretarial jobs in this area start at $40 K.

(aka nepotism).... anyway, I say eliminate the Supervisor position and keep the full time Administrative Assistant to run things. I don't know why people in "powerful" positions always think that they are too good to make copies, file and answer the phone. We need hands-on government leaders in this small, divided and depressed community.
