let's go a further on topic of pay. How much does a professor, engineer, manager etc. make in correlation to the amount of education they possess? Better yet, ask yourself, how much do you make in correlation to your degrees and please tell us all that you hold a Master and Doctorate(all which teachers are required to possess)
Incidentally, I think of coaches and athletes that make millions a season which BTW amounts to preforming 6 months out of the years. A very good reason to hone up on your athletic prowess or intellectual skills.

How many cops have to buy all their own supplies and work after hours at no additional pay?

Yawn, it's all about common sense and intellect. I would lay odd that you have no degree solely for the fact that a degree cost time and money to obtain. Most holder of these degree now are relegated to pay these loan and hope that they are not relegated to work menial jobs such as yourself to repay said loan.

Remember son, it's not about you opinion but more so about fact, now back to common sense and fact, offer your accomplishments and I'll guaranteed the fact that the state paid for what little education you possess. The rest of us are still paying off college loans but the comfort, some now have teaching positions based on their education. Once again, you can make your point by stating that you're a high school drop out making 80,000 dollar a year. JUST WHAT I THOUGHT YAWN!!!!!!

A stranger gave a Colorado grocery cashier $100 when he learned she's also a 3rd-grade teacher

Amanda Garner burst into tears Thursday while working her second job, thanks to a stranger who recognized the financial struggles she faces as a teacher in Colorado.
That same day, Garner had rallied at the state Capitol for better pay and school resources. The effort continued Friday as part of a wave of teacher actions across several states in support of more money for public education.

Funny, how you neglect to point out that the lion's share of this budget shortfall is a DIRECT result of having to pay substitute teachers due to full-time teaching vacancies (not absences) so they hire permanent substitutes, not day-to-day substitutes. They're especially having trouble finding teachers with special ed and bilingual qualifications.

The RCSD Teacher's Union has been making this point for YEARS now.

Facts are funny things that way.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- New York State spends the most money on public education in the United States, according to a new study.

Heytutor.com ranked how much each state invests on its students in public schools -- and New York State ranked first. New York spent a total of $23,091 per public school student in 2017 -- which means it spends $62.62 billion on all students in public education across the state.

I in no regard attempt to be an advocate for teachers but in reality, it's very ludicrous to think degree seekers work for little to nothing when it takes money and time to fulfill the requirements of getting a teacher's position. BTW, if I can be personal, what is your level of education and tell us how much you earned annually over your career? Based on some of your responses, I see nothing beyond a basis education which relegated a menial salary. Just saying.
