That's probably because the majority of it's voters were educated in New York!

Data from Wikapedia based on the U.S. Census ranks New York 37th in public high school graduation rates.

Data from nea.org ranks New York #1 in public school teachers salaries!

legally?

the 'teachers' union force their own agenda

morally?

then all NYS employees both private and public should get full pensions at age 55, full healthcare, full dental, full vision and only have to show up for work for about 6 months once you factor in the 'teachers' basically get a full week off every month during the school year and paid summers off...

so you paid less than $15,000 over 10 years into your pension

and you will get a pension worth 80% of your final year salary

if your final year salary is $80,000 (30 years at 'teaching') then your pension would be about $64,000 a year

$64,000 over 25 years because you can retire at age 55 equals $1,600,000

you only put in around $15,000 into your pension but you get out about $1,600,000

no wonder the school taxes in NYS are soo HIGH

maybe the school year should be 12 months long while your pay stays the same

you have to convert to a 401k plan where you pay far more into your own retirement and the school system/taxpayers only pay 3% each year into your 401k

no deductibles - no copays - no limits

you must have it rough

is that how obamacare works?

obamacare $6,500 deductible or nearly eleven years of your $50 monthly premiums

Students don't attend school to 'get' money. They go there to attain an education. And since NY ranks a solid fifth, nationally for educational attainment, it would appear to be a runaway success.

But feel free to continue making a fool of yourself.

Last week, he continued the push to rein in public employee pensions, arguing that overgenerous defined-benefit plans are no longer feasible, and that a defined-contribution plan like a 401(k) is reasonable in these difficult times. In fact, he says he is willing to face a government shutdown if met with intransigence on the issue, which is part of his “Battle of Albany.”
Or consider Cuomo’s approach to reforming education. Early on, he sided with accountability-minded reformers, repeatedly stating that “New York is first in spending in education and 38th in results.” That was like fingernails on the chalkboard to defenders of the status quo, who simply advocate for more and more spending on the schools.
Cuomo kept it up. And when a two-year-old law to improve teacher evaluations resulted in a stalemate across the state, Cuomo demanded hard-nosed reform through the budget process.

Then again, New York State ranks 5th nationally for quality of public education and consistently ranks near the top of the list for secondary and advanced degree graduation as well as job placement rate and earnings.

So, it would seem that you clearly get what you pay for.

Besides, cutting funding (of virtually any kind) will have precisely the opposite effect of fixing the high school dropout rate.

Do police officers get paid time off? The reason that I pose that question is the fact that "flexible" Republicans give kudos to our men and women in the field of law enforcement while simultaneous criticizing the FBI and teachers who now may be required to take upon themselves the responsibility to do the policemen's job....now make up your mind Blue, why put your child's life in the hands of incompetent teachers?

Public education is so underfunded in Oklahoma that schools are moving to 4-day weeks & cutting wages so much that teachers are fleeing for better pay at Walmart.

Teachers are going on strike to stand up for their profession & a quality education for their students.

One of the things I’d say about this is that workers around the U.S. really don’t want to be in the position that the West Virginia teachers are in — near rock-bottom in pay, with health insurance costs that are about to drown them.

Teachers walk out in Oklahoma and Kentucky

Oklahoma and Kentucky teachers are walking off the job and holding rallies in their state capitols to pressure lawmakers.

Inspired by the West Virginia strike in which teachers demanded and got a pay raise from state leaders,

I don't think that you're clairvoyant but have the ability to utilize wisdom and common sense as to what was coming down the pike. Where does Betsy Devos the education director fit when it comes to this debacle? Also we can see a White House trend of being " NOT" being smart. A teaching position requires a minimum of a Bachelor and Master but being rich, unethical and unlearned, you can make millions by just knowing the right people, in our case, vote in an uneducated and low brain POTUS and he'll pass out jobs like candy, a jobs within his cabinet, requiring only a allegiance to his hateful mentality while ignoring a past of a daddy getting you through high school and college by "talking" to the powers that be. See kids, you really don't need an education if your Father has money but for those of you with menial assets, please get your education and change the world for the better.
