Since you ask, my wife and I each carry our own personal policies.

What about your household?

the same should apply to the 'teachers'

Seventy percent or more of our annual budgets go to personnel costs, including the pensions, health care and salaries of our teachers and staff, past and present.

We face state employee pension, workers compensation and healthcare costs for the upcoming year that continue to overwhelm school budgets

the savings could be used to benefit the students

For what arbitrary reason?

We chose our insurance arrangements for two simple reasons. Our specific policies are highly tailored to each individual's medical needs, AND because I can afford it due to the fact that 100% of my plan and medical costs are covered in full.

That situation is HIGHLY unlikely to be the case for others.

Now, back to the drawing board you go.

if you can afford to pay for your healthcare than the 'teachers' should be able to pay for their own healthcare

the same reasons would apply to the 'teachers' paying for their own coverage and the savings to be used for students education

highly doubt you have a 'cadillac' plan that you could afford like the 'teachers' get thru taxpayers

they get with full medical, full dental and full vision for life all from taxpayers money

As usual, 100% of your assumptions are wrong 100% of the time.

You're simply anti-education, that's all.

I'M not a member of a workers's union that negotiated a contract with the state who's elected offecials are specfically empowered by the voters to negotiate such agreements.

Irrelevant... for precisely the same reasons clearly and factually articulated above.

If you don't like how democracy works, I suggest you move somewhere that doesn't 'suffer' from that 'problem'.

do you even know who trina newton is?

After further familiarizing myself with Ms. Newton and her statement made more than 5 Years ago, it's clear that she was referring to healthcare BEFORE implementation of The Affordable Care Act.

I stand corrected... and you stand looking like a complete fool. smirk

My apologies to Trina Newton.

You won't, because the answer would blow your alleged 'argument' to smithereens

What a poser.

and how does the ACA have any bearing on the 'part time teachers' over generous healthcare coverage?

No. I'm stating categorically that educators are both deserving and entitled to such benefits. Legally AND morally.

I'm also saying that your slash-and-burn mentality with regard to virtually everything that once made America the shining example to be emulated by the rest of the word, is thoroughly misguided and patently detrimental to American prosperity and TRUE exceptionalism.

Think you can process THAT simple concept?

union is failing our children!
From WHEC news 10 check them out for video and more information.

New Yorkers spend $58.8-billion on education. That's an average of over $19,500 per student. That's the highest in the country. Our teachers also earn the highest average salary in the country at over $75,000 and our class sizes are among the smallest at 12 students per teacher. It seems like we're putting our money in the right place.

News10NBC's Nikki Rudd asked, "Some would say why do you need more money?"
Monroe County School Board Association Executive Director Jody Siegle said, "Well there are a lot of things in New York that cost a lot."

Geoff Rosenberger is Rochester Prep Board Chair. He said, "We spend about $19,000 a student the national average is around $11,000 so if you look at our numbers, our outcomes are not 80-percent better than the rest of the country.

While New York does rank at the top for spending, achievement levels are not nearly as high. Fourth and eighth grade math proficiency ranks below the national average while fourth and eighth grade reading fares slightly better and New York's graduation rate ranks below the national average at just 33rd overall.

Whether it's the NAEP Performance Ranking, the Free Enterprise study which uses data from the College Board, ACT, and SAT, Wallet Hub which looks at math scores, reading scores, and dropout rates among other variables or the US News high school rankings. In each of these studies, New York doesn't even crack the top 10.
