I have an "important" Windows security update that keep failing to install. I have tried it numerous times, and have turned off Defender and AVG. Many others have installed correctly with no problem, but this one is left. I can find no help on the Internet for this even on the MicroSoft help site. Apparently it is not an uncommon problem. The error code is:
8007371C
Anyone have a thought? Thanks.

Thanks, Festus. I saw this page but find it coinfusing a vague. I guess I may have to delve into it.

The latest updates were getting stuck at the "Preparing to Install" part of things. I rebooted and the updates then installed themselves.

Not sure if you're having the same problem or not.

No, it's not that. Just this one update won't stick. All others that come along install OK. I've tried everything I can think of. I have a red warning all the time in that little "install updates and then shut down" icon next to the search box in the start menu. Thanks.

This last batch of updates seem to have included one that is causing some problems for people. Good luck with solving your problem.

check knowledge base definitely... you can also record the update should be a long number after the letters KB.

write it down then go to microsoft.com and try to download it and install it manually.

This problem seems to have resolved itself. The little window in the start menu that looks like a timer to the left of the lock button used to indicate that an update needed to be installed and when I clicked it, this one particular update would not install. I had detailed info on it which I used to search around for a solution, including on the MS web site, but to no avail. I could find references to it, and lots of indications that it was a known issue, but no simple solutions. Suddenly the update indicator stopped showing that one was available and all is well. Thanks a lot for taking the time to respond Computique! Are you in the Shop Centre?
