Blogger offers $10,000 bounty for Obama college transcripts
The Daily Caller has identified the owner of a website that promised on Tuesday to pay $10,000 to anyone who can provide an authentic copy of President Barack Obama’s course transcripts from his days at Occidental College, Harvard University or Columbia University.
Although its one-page website is presented anonymously, conservative blogger Brooks Bayne confirmed to The Daily Caller that he is responsible for it.
Bayne told TheDC that a group of eight people – including some he called “recognizable” figures – are coordinating the effort to make Obama’s college transcripts public, Bayne told The Daily Caller. He declined to name any of them.
“We are doing this because we are tired of the media not doing their job,” he said. ”We are tired of the PR propaganda coming out of places like Media Matters, and we are tired of this administration stonewalling over things like Fast and Furious.”
“We are tired of a lot of things.”
The $10,000 reward, he explained, is “absolutely” real and will be paid to anyone who can provide any verifiable college transcripts belonging to Obama. Bayne said his organization’s members plan to pool their money to raise the cash prize, and added that the amount could grow if others step forward to contribute.
Obama himself is not eligible to claim the reward, Bayne said. The president may, however, release his academic records voluntarily, he added.
And given media reports about financial pressures professional educators face, he said, the $10,000 offer could be attractive.
“Maybe they have a copy of the transcripts laying around,” Bayne told TheDC. “They can make some cash. I mean, we are just trying to spread the wealth around.”
Bayne confirmed that neither Gov. Mitt Romney nor his presidential campaign is involved with his group’s effort, or with the $10,000 reward for Obama’s college transcripts. The question itself prompted a laughing fit that lasted for roughly 20 seconds. He also insisted that there are no right-wing pressure groups — what he called “shadow groups” and “beltway douche-bag groups” — pulling the strings.
But like right-leaning groups in Washington, D.C., Bayne believes media outlets have given President Obama a free pass on his personal history. And because academic records are an indication of a candidate’s intellect and seriousness, he said, Obama’s college transcripts are fair game,
But for some reason, he mused, no one has been able to find Obama’s. ”But they sure found George Bush’s college transcripts, didn’t they?”
The website advertising Bayne’s $10,000 bounty reads like a direct challenge to the press.
“You’ve failed, media,” it says.
“You’ve had over three years to vet President Barack Obama. Yet in three years in office and over a year of campaigning beforehand, you have either been oddly uninterested or purposefully ignorant of Barack Obama’s educational history.”
Finding the president’s transcripts, the website adds, “would represent more intellectual curiosity about the leader of the free world than the media has demonstrated since Obama won the Democrat primary.”
The statement provides a link to the college transcripts of former President George W. Bush, which The New Yorker published in November 1999, a full year before his election to the presidency.
“Media, your stranglehold on the truth ends NOW. Let the vetting begin,” the website proclaims.
The statement is signed “Bellum Letale,” a Latin expression meaning “deadly war.”
The website’s domain name — thetrenches.us — was registered using 9220 Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles as its contact address. That commercial office building on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood houses Ford Models, Abrams Artists, Atlas Entertainment and Media Talent Group, Mosaic Los Angeles, Sotheby’s Auction House, Comerica and Pat Boone Enterprises.
Bayne refused to identify the building tenant that registered his website, but he did confirm that Boone, an outspoken conservative who has made headlines in the past questioning Obama’s U.S. citizenship, is not connected to the effort.
Asked what he expects to find in Obama’s college transcripts, should they turn up, Bayne said that could challenge conventional wisdom about the types of classes he took and the grades he received.
“All we have heard from the media is how much smarter Barack is than all the other candidates,” he explained.
He also suspects Obama’s coursework could highlight his “hardcore leftist-slash-progressive-slash-neo-marxist point of view.”
“I don’t think it is a conspiracy to say someone can have that viewpoint,” he told TheDC. ”There are other people in America who have that view point.”
But by keeping his college history out of public view, Bayne suggested, Obama may be hiding something he should be honest about.
“If you are going to have a viewpoint, take a stand,” he said. “Don’t be a pussy about it, seriously.”

So what do you hope to "prove" with Obama's transcripts?

It's good to know if a person has the knowledge and intellect necessary for the job, and if his education is what it is purported to be.
We've got a pres who got into, and maybe out of, schools due to Affirmitive Rascism laws and practice. Is he as qualified as his boosters (he's the biggest) claim? We had a "1st CEO, MB" Pres who'd failed at every business he'd touched, and had to be bailed out by dad's powerful friends, who were currying favor with one they figured was unprincipled and, though apparently rudderless, externally steerable enough, and with malleable enough principles, that he might well go far in politics.
Like Obomber, Shrub was a blank slate, on which could be written the orders for the acquisition of power.
We've got to try to cut through hype and propaganda, and look at what they've done; the record, and a candidate's history, do matter.
If Americans weren't such incurious amnesiacs, LBJ might not have been a successful candidate for VP, FI, and the present would have been far different:
"Lyndon B. Johnson: Johnson won his initial Texas senate seat in 1948 with the aid of massive fraud in the Democratic Party primary, aided by enormous funding from the Brown & Root Tobacco Company (which had picked LBJ as the man they were going to create) to pay off the Parr corruption machine in Southern Texas. Of course, due to 1-party Democrat control of Texas at that time, the primary election was the real election; the Republicans had no chance. "Brown and Root" later morphed into "Halliburton" and "KBR," both of which laid a trail of worldwide corruption behind them for decades that continues up to 2010 with no sign of stopping.
Stevenson had earlier been the Texas Governor and had won in Parr's counties by about 97% margins thanks to support from Parr's machine. But in 1948, Johnson had the funds and Parr felt betrayed by Stevenson's failure to appoint enough Parr cronies. Stevenson, who was enormously popular and had won elections statewide by over 80%, would seem to have no problem beating the unknown Johnson if voting were honest. And indeed he did in 168 counties versus Johnson's 72, winning statewide over Johnson by 71,000 votes. But fortunately for Johnson, the six Parr-controlled counties in South Texas "voted" for him 98%, which, while not enough to get Johnson more votes than Stevenson, was enough to get him into a runoff with Stevenson. In the runoff, Johnson used his funds to buy enormous numbers of votes in San Antonio and to pay off other counties to get numerous 5:1 ratio leads. But Stevenson still was ahead statewide by 854 votes the day after election day, and since the Parr-headquarters Duval County had, e.g. voted Johnson by 99% (with 99.6% turnout), it seemed unlikely Parr could generate enough additional "votes" to put Johnson over the top. No problem. The Parr-controlled counties simply kept "amending" their returns daily to keep generating more Johnson votes, with the final trick, a week later, being precinct number 13 in Jim Wells County, which was election judge Luis Salas's precinct, which had voted for Johnson 765 to 60. Somebody simply "closed the loop on the 7" to make it 965 to 60, giving Johnson a statewide victory by 87 votes, and earning him the nickname "Landslide Lyndon." The last 203 names on the voting list in this precinct were written in alphabetical order in the same ink and all were witnessed under the signature of Parr-deputy election judge Luis Salas; albeit this list later mysteriously was "lost." (Much later, Salas and various Johnson campaign aides publically admitted all these frauds and Parr committed suicide when it appeared the Feds were finally going to be able to get to him on tax evasion charges. One of Johnson's campaign aides, John Connally, became Texas Governor. The story is described in, e.g. Caro's and Feinberg's books. Too-inquisitive election inspectors and observers would be jailed and ordered out of Parr counties at submachine gun point; the homes and businesses of those insufficiently loyal to Parr would be burned. Three prominent critics of Parr were assassinated by unknown assailants.)"
LBJ was a typical politician, cocky, ruthless, and arrogant; he gloated, and did so with the ballot box in question, so that the mundanes would always know just how clever he really had been:

Those photos were out there, and if there'd been enough public curiosity, instead of blind faith-in-sociopaths acceptance, could have been widely spread before the '60 election, even without the 'net, and maybe he'd not have been Pres., and maybe we'd not be in the socialistic, militaristic, fascist mess we're in today. A different mess (if you need things not to be screwed up, you're in the wrong species), but maybe, and quite possibly, a better one.
Candidates, and office-holders, must constantly be vetted and questioned.Trust but make the effort to verify. Trouble is, once you've made the effort, you often find that you can't trust them.
A lot of people really don't want to know what might be squirming and crawling under the rock. Or, maybe, mostly, just under their own favorite rocks.
