Please say that you're not seriously upset about this! You're joking, right?

It's part of the "a chicken in every pot" campaign slogan. Obama got tired of constantly comparing himself to Lincoln...now he's fixated on FDR, but he couldn't quite get it right.

Seriously, I don't know the reason.

The wings were maybe ripped off, but I don't know that you were.

Perhaps the Waterloo LL wanted to keep it below a certain price, and agreed with Dewey that that way was one way that would work. I seem to recall that benefits hosted at Dewey's are usually more $. Perhaps Dewey got a deal on wingless chickens, and the wings went to someplace other than Dewey's?

You did say that the price was reasonable. Why don't you call him and ask why? He's a reasonable guy, and I'm sure he'll be happy to give an explanation, even if it turns out that it's one that still doesn't satisfy you. That's what I'd do, anyway.

It's another "publicly bash Dewey, and try to trash his business and reputation, instead of talking to the man's face, 1st" thread, and those people don't joke. I've seen this movie before.

You could have just donated the $48, but then I guess you wouldn't have gotten "your cut". Not a fan of Dewey's, but I really can't believe this is an issue for anybody.

What did the LL say about contract terms, and degree of fulfillment, when you asked them?

Maybe he is trying to bring back the old time 10 cent wing night.....

Or maybe they had trouble catching the chickens before butchering them, They cut the wings off so they didn't fly away...

This is nothing new... He does this with all of his Chicken BBQ's and then he resells them for his wing night. This isnt the only way Deweys cuts corners at the customers expense

The question is whether he did it without the LL's prior knowledge and consent. Was it a valid and fulfilled free market contract, oral or otherwise, or a blindside rip off? I still want to know how the LL views it, so I can know the answer to that question.

Dewey's wings are $6 a dozen with sauce on them.

So, 6 wings at 50 cents ea. and let's call it a 5 cents deduction each wing for the sauce.
I'll speak to Dewey for your shy self who hides behind their monitor.
Where would you like your $2.70 sent to?

Maybe the Little League will cut you a check, since they are actually the benefactors of your purchase and Dewey's labor. Maybe a few of the players could send you their allowance. Would that satisfy you?

Doubtful.

Do you know this with 100% certainty? I seriously doubt that Dewey has the time to cut the wings off of 200-300 or more half chickens for a BBQ. More likely it is being done by his supplier, who is Dudley poultry I believe. The price of wings is insane, even at the wholesale level. You can buy boneless/skinless chicken breasts for less per pound.

As to the complaint that there were no salt potatoes this one has no merit. I will say with all certainty that the sides that were going to be served with the chicken were agreed upon in the contract.

VM has made about the only intelligent posts on this thread when he said go talk to Dewey. He is a very reasonable man and will provide any info you feel you need. This is addressed to the original poster.

If you ate a meal, and you didn't complain about the actual BBQ which is always delicious did you really miss the 4 bites you get from a wing after consuming a half chicken?

Wow enda this falls in the "get a life" category.

First, sides are picked by the customer, not Dewey. Someone told Lynda to skip the taters and that someone is you guys at Little League. Sounds like you had little or nothing to do with helping. Thanks for your service to our community.

Second, I have spent my fair share time at Dewey's and can't say I remember seeing the crew pulling wings off of chickens. It must be a covert op. They must meet at the Party House after closing and have a wing pulling session.

Wing pulling. That's right.

He is reasonable, and thank you, I did think I made a reasonable suggestion, but it was not, by a long shot, the only intelligent comment here. Most others showed that they recognize a not-so-hidden agenda when they see it.

Dewey looks like he may be fairly prosperous. Among other reasons some may find to anonymously savage him is envy at his apparent success. Sometimes, all is not as it seems. Possibly he could have everything mortgaged to the hilt, right down to his cat, and be barely hanging on. It's not easy operating in an anti-business climate as thick as is SF's.

I hope that's not the case, and that he is indeed making a bundle. He works hard, and puts a lot of his own hours into the business; he deserves it. And his chicken is delicious.

K here it is out of the horses mouth. 1 He cuts the wings off because they marinate better and BBQ better. He has done this forever!!! He marinates his chickens for 3 days before BBQ!!! He has done this for many years knows this is the best way!! NO he does not sell the wings at bar!! Whoever is stating all this should just call up Dewey like I did and ask WHY! CASE CLOSED!!!

where does it say anywhere how much chicken is suppose to be in your meal? no where! there is no way you can say that it didn't taste good. just because the chicken he gets doesn't have the wings doesn't mean you need to go bash him in front of all seneca county. get a life! "your owed a free wing" theres way bigger problems in this area to worry and complain about than your missing chicken wing...woooow

Well, he certainly has a right to, or to do anything he wants with them.

Your reply informs us that he has traditionally sold wingless chickens, and so the LL had to have known they'd come that way. Dewey was dealing straight up, as I'd thought, everything was as agreed to and above board, and any intimations of some nefarious plot to deceive or cheat enda, or anyone else, are so much destructively paranoid "Let's get up an anonymous lynch mob...he's evil, and he's picking on me!" BE.

Fortunately, the majority quickly saw through it, instead of joining in the attempted beatdown.

But I gotta ask, what DOES he do with the wings, if he doesn't sell them? Does he donate them, FI, to the Sisters of The Sacred Wings?

Enda if it makes you feel better I will give you 50 cents for the bite or 2 of meat you missed out on! \:\/

I could only wish a wingless BBQ was my biggest concern in life! What's next.....complaining about only getting 2 packets of Arby sauce??? OOOoooops nevermind....someone already beat you to it! \:\/
