Dear Sheriff Stenberg,
You are making my decision and many others' decision very easy. We will continue to SUPPORT the Seneca Falls Town Police Department.
It seems like every day, more times when the 119 car is working, that there is a Sheriff's patrol in the Town of Seneca Falls. You do realize that this only means one thing...Your department is supporting the Town of Seneca Falls PD on getting more patrol officers.
There are many more roads and residences in Seneca COUNTY that need to be patrolled. I hear on my scanner a NW, NE and a South patrol in service for the Sheriff's Department. How many times do your patrols go up into May's Point or Armitage Rd or Route 31? It seems like, whomever 119 is, calls on numerous traffic stops in the Town of Seneca Falls. Yet, I drive west on 318 from Gravel Rd to 414 North and all I ever see are New York State Police. Maybe the Sheriff's patrol working in the North East should try running radar on 318 or 414. Heck. They could even go on some side roads in the Tyre area.
I say THANK YOU again for helping us understand there is a need for more patrol officers for the Seneca Falls PD.
You rock.

Seneca Falls PD numbers are increasing for activity in the new area (TOV) that they now have since 1/1/12.
Sheriff numbers are going down. Sheriff is concerned in justification of his staff.
This is why you see these Sheriff cars around. They are trying to regain their numbers that the Seneca Falls PD is making great progress on.

Butt Bump. "I drive west on 318 from Gravel Rd to 414 North". Therefore, if you were as smart as your other posts, this is NOT the SFPD jurisdiction!! If you travel 318 west (from Gravel Rd) to 414 North (headed into Wayne County) that is definitely NOT SFPD. SFPD patrols 414 North (From Rt 5 & 20 to Strong Rd or close to there. And Route 318 from Gravel Rd to Rt 5 & 20.

This is an absolute pathetic attempt to discredit the scsd by an obvious sfpd officer or a very strong connection to one. I travel the roads and streets of seneca falls and i see sfpd, state troopers, and scsd pretty equally. Considering the size of sfpd's patrol area, I think it is a good idea considering sfpd is not trained very well and are not adequately staffed (according to them). Is it possible that chief stew has asked for the assistance from neighboring departments like a responsible police chief? If you know the answer to that question, you must be on the inside (maybe an sfpd officer hoping to bash others to keep your job). I read the police beat. It does not look like anybody is more busy than anyone. In fact, sfpd looks less busy now that they are not arresting everyone in the old village for grass clippings in streets and open beers in doorways of bars. You all remember that stuff. That is before the dissolution in hopes of swaying their REAL numbers to pursuade voters. Truth is out now.
I am a resident of the town of seneca falls and am forced to pay the sfpd unkown taxes. They are unknown because the town board refuses to tell us exactly what they cost. I pay county and state taxes also. I would gladly take a trooper or deputy patrolling my neighborhood any day.
Unknown sfpd officer,
You have made up my mind a long time ago. Get back on patrol while you still have a job and get off the forums while you are working. Caught ya the other day. You know who you are.
I think it is funny that someone would complain about more cops around. Does not make much sense. I personally do not mind and do not mind having the added sense of security.
119 - please sit in my driveway any time. I live on bayard street extension.
OK, back to yard work.

The last map I looked at - it was a while ago though - Seneca Falls was in Seneca County and part of New York State. Thank you Sheriff and State Police for keeping Seneca Falls safe. SFPD wants more officers - no way - the former chief and current chief when he was the union spokesperson both said they could handle it without adding more officers. We all knew it was BS then but the PD wanted to bamboozle the public to keep their over priced jobs. Incompetence - pure utter incompetence..

I've complained, but it doesn't do much good; the state has claimed and seized that reach and authority for its power, and most don't question whether or not that a good thing, or by what inherent right government controls them. They have a psychological need to be shepherded ever more tightly, and anyone who goes against that mindset and common "wisdom", and questions authority, and 1st principles, is considered loony by enough of the voters so that it isn't going to change soon, if ever. The status quo is a warm cocoon which obviates the need for considering it more closely, and that's human nature. But VM Smith is from Mars, after all.
