Everyone learn English before you come to America for a vacation! NOW! NOW! LEARN IT NOW! For your ten days in the Grand Canyon! Or your wine tour in the Finger Lakes! Spend six months learning English so no one thinks you're ILLEGAL!

Schools are reguired to print, many thigs in english and spanish. Why not German. Ask the county how much they spend printing in spanish. They don't print in French. There is no need to print in any language but English. My parents came here not being able to speak english and they agree 100%.

What schools and where? Certainly not in Upstate NY. Districts where there are heavy Spanish speaking populations, I imagine. This hardly impacts you if you live in Upstate NY.

What county? Seneca County? I'll ask you, since you're the one making the claim. Please present to us how much "the county" (if not Seneca, yours) "they spend printing in Spanish".

Well, that's obviously and demonstrably false. If your premise is that everyone is printing everything in Spanish because there are large populations of non-English speakers, then by definition there is a need to print in that language.

Big woo for your parents. My gram came here not knowing any English either. I'd ask what she thinks but she's dead.

For someone so obsessed with people speaking English, your grasp of the written language is a little tenuous, don't you think?

Let's start with capitalizing "English" and "Spanish" and then move on to spelling and punctuation. (Great job on nailing "French" though. Never accuse me of not giving credit where due!)

I happen to live in a place in which a large population of legal residents and citizens are still primarily Spanish-speaking. Like, if they're speaking Spanish you can't really tell that they're ACTUAL 'MERIKUNS! It's like, super crazy and mind-blowing. Like, seriously.

I didn't take a shot at your parents. I took at shot at you. What they think is as irrelevant as what my dead grandmother thinks, just because they all "came here speaking no English". Why not just discuss what you think vs. what I think? That seems fair, and less vulnerable to you or me interpreting what other people think to suit our needs.

Taking things to extremes? Like complaining about American money printed in Spanish? Like throwing out ridiculous examples, like "why don't we print signs in German"? Like pointing out that people who are obsessed with making America ENGLISH ONLY are frequently inept at using the language themselves?

CALL ME AN EXTREMIST. I'm down.

Bravo.

Okay, so signs for tourists who visit for finite amounts of time=great. Signs for people who live, work, and spend money in that country every single day=bad.

I'm totally following this awesomesauce logic!

Because other states have lots of stupid people in them, also. With a law like that; it would be easy to think that the Florida government was the dumbest, but they do have stiff competition.

You say she's as a spadeful? I've never been to Planet cwjga, and am not bilingual, so could you please put that in a form that's understandable to an English-speaker? This is America, after all, so I know you won't mind. Thanks in advance!
