Trooper tickets Sheriff for DUI (Ohio)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKzZmT3Ojxk

Just found this interesting. What are the odds of getting caught or getting off even if they did get caught?
This one did not. He even pleaded that he had elections next year. LOL

Seemed like the most logical forum to post in.

I wonder if that was a contributing factor in the forced retirement of one of our former poster/ former trooper?

No one should be above the law. Again a lot of them do get breaks
because of who they are or work for.

And the "UNprofessional courtesy", AKA an attempt (successful far too often) to create a special, protected class of citizens which is above the law, apparently and unfortunately includes family members:

http://leoprocards.com/

Until and unless this kind of open invitation to engage in illegal or unethical behavior, on the part of LE family members, and any patrolling LE members who might be complicit in it, is no longer accepted as business as usual, LE won't get the respect that it is constantly clamoring for. And many of them will even remain clueless about why the common public perception of them exists, sadly.

The "thems" (including, but not limited to, cops) often display an astounding lack of introspection. Or, they just don't care what other citizens think about them, or about anything else. Those are the only two possibilities I see.

Kudos to the cop who arrested the Sheriff; it takes a strong man to swim against the current, simply because he takes his oath, and his ethical responsibility to be impartial, seriously. Many of them do, but it only takes a few bad apples...and maybe too many other apples deliberately looking the other way.

Sam Rayburn said that you have to go along to get along, and this is the sorry state into which we've gotten. Corruption can exist at the top, or the bottom. If it's at both ends, then it's systemic.

Whoops!...forgot to take my happy pill again...

Typically the LEOs just give their business cards to their relatives to show the detaining officer...

I know someone who has one of those business cards. I didn't comment to her about it because I figured that she would never, ever, be able to see just how wrong it is. Being given special priveledge, not available to the mere mundanes, the commoners, will blind a person that way, so I didn't waste my breath.
