Village of Watkins Glen – Festival and Event Personnel Costs

The purpose of our audit was to evaluate the costs incurred by the Village for festivals and events

The Village incurs significant additional personnel (police and park employees) costs related to five festivals/events held in the Village. Although the Village's policy for festivals and events provides for the assessment of these additional personnel costs to the festival/event organizers, the Village has not charged additional fees to the organizers. As a result, the Village has absorbed $21,708 in expenditures.

Recommendations: Track the additional personnel costs related to festival/events and charge these fees to festival/event sponsors and organizers.
