I finally have the router hooked up to my computer, but of course I can only get the internet in my home. I know I have to get something else to be able to get the internet elsewhere. I was told that I should go to verizon, and it would cost me $50.00 a month.....Is there anything I can do that would be cheaper?? Ouch, that would cost me $600.00 a year!!!!!

Find a hot spot? You might be surprised by how many there are.

If you want wi-fi anywhere at anytime when not home you will have to pay for it.... if not Mcdonalds, Dunkin Donuts, Libraries, Malls, etc. have free Wi-Fi *hot spots*, however these *hot spots* are not secured so DO NOT do ANY banking or personal business while using these hot spots

Go to Walmart or Radio Shack and buy the Virgin Mobile USB. Once activated you have unlimited wireless internet to use anywhere for $40/month with no contract. Once activated after the first month you don't neeed to pay until you need it agian. I have used one for several years and it works out great for traveling at little cost to me.

Hi Lori, I am confused here. You say it is $40.00 a month w/no contract, and then say after the 1st mo. you won't need to pay until you need it again. Please explain that to me. Thanx....

I don't blame you. While I think it's a very helpful suggestion, maybe the explanation of that part needs some fine tuning. I think I know what she meant, but I'll let her speak for herself.

with it being a no contract you only pay for the months that you want to use it at $40 per month

if that is what she meant

One huge problem..... Virgin Mobile coverage STINKS! When I lived in Seneca Falls I bought a pre-paid Virgin cell phone at Waterloo Wal-Mart and I returned it. The only reason I purchased it was to eliminate my need for a land-line phone and there was NO signal at my apartment in Seneca Falls! \:\/

Sorry about the confusion. You will have to pay for the first month you activate it then after that you don't need to pay unless you plan to use it again. You can set the account up to deduct the $40/mo from your account or to let you decide when you want to use it. I only use it a few times a year so I only pay for the month I plan to travel. I activate it a few days before I leave then have it for 30 days before I have to pay agaon or not use it. I have used mine all across the country with no problems. The device sosts about $79.99 to buy it but you own it after that. If you watch the Virgin Mobile website they have sales on them and you can get it much cheaper. It is the Broadband2go USB device. I hope this helps.

Apparently htey have recently pushed the price up to $50/mo. But still better than having a plan if you know you won't have internet access where you are traveling.

Yes, there are also daily and weekly rates available from Verizon.
