Has anybody heard anything about the PY Diner? I saw a "SOLD" sign on it today.

He was the greatest! I was just thinking the same thing. What a class act he and his wife were!

Yes they were, as were the waitresses! The old days, got a problem, take it up with the cook, if you have the guts. John was such a kind soul unless you said something inappropriate, then you were in BIG trouble.

I loved the liver and onions and he knew how to cook them and put them on the plate being done at the same time!

Well I hope whoever bought it brings it back!! I used to work there when I was in high school. John fed me good after a night of washing dishes. I think I gained ten pounds the year I worked there! \:\)

Awesome memories - I remember the waitress as being very matter of fact - but she'd bring the children our small bottles of cola and root beer with glasses very quickly!! Smart woman!

I don't go back as far as you, but I looked forward to Lyman's Thursday Turkey and mash potatoes. The waitresses were a delight.

I remember when John would close the diner for a couple weeks to go on vacation. It seemed like an eternity.

The Penn Yan Diner has been purchased by a couple who are village residence. Grand opening is tentatively set for May 1st. Those local in Penn Yan may see activity as preparations are being made for reopening. More details will follow as control of domains are transfered.
