Vote Tuesday; Will Watkins Glen Middle School Be Closed?
Watkins Glen, NY -- Taxpayers in the Watkins Glen School District will vote Tuesday on whether to close their middle school.
School district officials say they want to make the district more cost efficient, as they expect more state aid cuts in the future.
If approved, the$ 24.6 million three year consolidation plan would expand the high school and place all students, kindergarten through 12th, in one campus.
By closing the middle school, the district will save $4 million dollars over the next few years.
Voting will be held from noon to 8 on Tuesday in the district office lobby of the high school on 12th street.
