Musta had a round chambered with the safety off.
Two dumb moves.

How do you know that the gun has a safety?

How do you know that it wasn't a revolver? If you're carrying a fully loaded revolver, you've always got a round chambered, and don't always have a safety.

That's why I asked my question. As far as I know, a revolver has no safety, other than the traditional good practice of leaving one chamber empty, which some fools don't do.

For the most part, you are correct. Single action revolvers have no external safety mechanism. Leaving an empty chamber under the hammer is the best way to stay "safe."

What's the point of having a gun if it's not loaded?

Well if you're this guy, the point would be to keep the bullets out of you.

If you're stupid enough to carry a revolver with a round under the hammer, you deserve to get shot.
