What are the wooden boxes on stilts in the bay at Watkins Glen?

I believe they are hunting blinds used by waterfowl hunters.

I wondered about those too. They appear to be duck blinds, but I didn't think hunting was allowed within city limits.

I dont believe they are duck blinds for shooting in a public park. They appear to be fully enclosed. Anything related to monitoring the lake with the salt mines directly underneath?

You mean they've now moved them from the lake to a public park?

There's mirrors in those lake huts. The Navy is shooting lasers down the lake from the barge off Himrod.

Interesting. Top secret right?

Sounds like some type of small movement detection.

Seems odd for lasers when boaters are constantly in the way though...

Oh boy....

They ARE hunting blinds.

They ARE NOT in a public park, they are in the lake...hundreds of feet off shore in fact.

No they are NOT hundreds of feet away in fact.
I walked over to them while I was wind surfing - 30 yards at best.

Have you been inside them?

Grown men hiding in black boxes...LOL
Wouldn't it be easier to hide in the warm car at the parking lot and blow your feathered friends away from the window?

The lasers go right through the boaters. We found two sliced in half just last week.

If you need a big black box in the lake to hide in you shouldn't be hunting in the first place...did they cut a hole in the bottom to do their duty?

Like it or not, they are hunting blinds that will be used regardless of what you think.

You asked a question to launch this thread.

I'm sorry you don't care for the answer.

LOL! How would you hunt waterfowl then, if not with the use of a blind to hide from them? Would you use silver-tongued, silkily elequent persuasion to convince them to just surrender and plop down onto your serving platter? A drone strike, from an altitude that renders you invisible, perhaps?

Or...saaay...is the answer simply that duck hunting is your super power?

What do you normally see waterfowl hunters dressed in?
a) Bright Orange
b) Camouflage
c) The Latest from Victoria's secret

True or false: Ducks ARE NOT colorblind.

True or false: The DEC is not Blind (or stupid).

True or false: The half full Gatorade bottles you see along the highway, all contain lemon Gatorade. (before anyone attempts a taste test, PM me for the correct answer)

Assuming you were going to be in a box with your boat parked UNDER IT, What would a waterfowl hunter have for breakfast?
a) bagel with a smear
b) black coffee, 3 bran muffins, a western omelette and sausage
c) no breakfast
