Shooting suspect in custody after Burdett incident "One of the vehicles struck by gunfire was an unmarked SUV being driven by Schuyler County Sheriff Bill Yessman, who just happened to be driving through the area. The jury, however, did not find Joseph Esposito, 25, of Frost Hill Road, guilty of attempted murder. In October, Esposito used a rifle to randomly shoot at several vehicles, including those of law enforcement officers, Schuyler County sheriff's investigators said. The vehicle that wasn't an officer, they said was one that looked like a car the department had previously owned. It's hard to imagine that this guy, especially in his presumed state of mine (the say they believe he was on drugs at the time) was aware of specific unmarked vehicles and also of the officers travel pattern that day. It was a very bad incident and thankfully nobody was seriously harmed.
