Saw the Iron Lady this afternoon. Very good movie. Can't beat Meryl Streep's acting. She just gets into a role 150%. In her day, Margaret Thatcher was a great lady and an iron lady.

Hunger Games. Very well produced, directed and acted movie. Atleast a 9.

Lets hope that such a controlling, totalitarian government never happens. A gladiator-type of games, pitting communities and people against each other. Disgusting.

But..................who knows, hoping love wins out.

Please post what you think of the movie.

IMO, maybe a sequel to come.

We went and watched "The Hunger Games" last night. It was a very interesting, well directed movie. I have to say it was good, although being a mom, I had a very difficult time watching kids kill each other and fight to the death.

I thought what a great movie for some of these young gang related groups to watch.

Why? The story has nothing to do with gang-type violence or turf wars. The participants in the Games are selected by lottery and are made to fight until the death as a punishment for a previous rebellion. How would gangs relate to this story?

I know what it was about, I saw the movie. A great movie for gang related individuals to watch, why? To see what they do to each other, without government telling them they have to. Kids are already killing each other, no goverment involvement. I was looking at it from another angle.

http://blog.christianitytoday.com/women/2012/03/hungry_for_the_hunger_games_wh.html

"In a world where teenagers really do kill each other in cold blood, perhaps itís good that YA literature move away from lipstick and boys. American teens today face more real-life horror than many of us remember, including gang violence and bullying. Outside the United States, Joseph Kony isnít the only adult forcing children younger even than the tributes into armies. Child soldiers in Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Burma fight for causes they donít understand but which can often be traced back to resources that fuel Western appetites."

From reading this, I'm not the only one that took this thought away from the movie theatre with me.

On the particular day I saw Hunger Games, most of the movie goers were teens to 30's (I am in my seventies). Hope they saw it for the horror it was and not want to help to bring a society like that to be.

When I was young, my generation here in American were able to see the horrors of the Third Riech through the media. It left a lasting impression on me. I would not want to see that regime repeated in the world, though there are those that constantly try.

You've made me pick up the book again. "It's to the Capitol's advantage to have us divided among ourselves."

It's such a good book, mainly because it IS so plausible, maybe not the Hunger Games themselves, but the way the country and its people are divided- by design.

The Girl w/the Dragon Tattoo. Weired, sad soul & abused person to say the least. She did accomplish her asssignment.

Not a pleasant movie to watch.

I'm reading it now. What an interesting family history the Vanger family has. I'm almost halfway through the book, and the girl has only played a small role, but she is an interesting character, that's for sure.

Watching Game Change again-it's a combination horror/comedy flick about Palin. I think McCain would be too liberal for his own party now.
