Governor Signs Bill Helping Schuyler County

Watkins Glen, N.Y. -New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill Friday that could lead to construction of a townhouse project on the south end of Seneca Lake. The bill allows Schuyler County to take steps to provide access to the lakefront through Seneca Harbor Park.

Schuyler County Administrator Tim O'Hearn says this approval was needed for a developer to build 37 townhouses on vacant land between Cargill and the sewage treatment plant.

Schuyler County officials have been trying to get this approval for some time. Even if that project isn't able to still move forward, O'Hearn says today's bill approval would pave the way for other residential development along the southern end of the lake.
