I quit a 40 year, pack a day habit with the help of Chantix, 3 years ago next month. I didn't believe the Chantix would do it for me, as I really did enjoy the smokes, but not the hacking, especially in the morning. Even my allergies are not as bad as they used to be. I half-heartedly started the Chantix (Why would it work? The patch & gum didn't seem to help.) I stayed on Chaantix for about 4 months, but took half doses most of the time (I don't tolerate most meds well, but the half doses worked well for me), and a 2 months supply ran me the 4. I still miss smoking, but can do without them, now.
