Unfortunately drunks and druggies are well paid for their activity. I don't think you'll see them signing up for welfare or free food.

That comment makes no sense at all Samuel. Drunks and druggies spend all their money on booze and drugs and have no money. They are at the top of the list for welfare, food stamps and subsidized apartments.

Yeah, probably some. But I have known of a few in the area that have had lots-o-cash in their pocket and always have. From what I have seen people on drugs are dependent on their families. Not very often do they and resort to welfare.

Why would I care about what Bobby Champlin has to say about Gene? He broke the ABC rules on Christmas Eve.

Job Seekers: Dont feel down about needing a job and not wanting to look for one in Yates County. We have the lowest average income in the state. Even if they dont deserve the job.
The Connection: The exact same company pays 20% more on average in other locations in the state. If your were to drive to one of these other locations and apply for a job with a Yates County address they would refer you to PY (Same company, less pay).
You lost nothing by this location closing if you liked your job go eltswhere now, you will get paid what you should be getting paid FINALLY!

If this town was concerned about money they would open up the private bars used by local authorites and public officials (Stocked with taxpayer money),(thats right i said it)to the public and charge accordingly. The only problem this would create is simple to identify, what if they pulled over Genes kid for DWI on accident?

You're right the Village picked up the Elks club snow and hauled it away,I believe that's called thief of services or is it OK because several Village Board members belong to the CLUB?

Really? The ABC rules were truly broken? Sure a complaint was filed, which isn't hard to do. What was the actual outcome of that investigation by the ABC and it's outcome? Was there cause for a warning or fine? After all, we are talking about the ABC, not the PYGOBC (Penn Yan Good Old Boys Club). Being accused doesn't always make it fact. Can someone shed some light on what the actual outcome was? I'm not talking about the local political spin, just the ABC's findings.

Daisy you're a Lloyds regular. Were you there that fateful Christmas Eve? Maybe you could shed some factual light on the subject for us!

Gotta love it...Penn Yan - "Where Drama is Everything!"

While they're at it they should be plowing the trustee's driveways also. Hey, if they need a new paved driveway summer is only months away, put your order in now trustee's.

I am NOT a Lloyd's regular. We go maybe once every two months for wings. And good grief no, I wasn't there on Christmas Eve. I was home like most of you w/my family! I was at that special board meeting in Jan., when the then mayor read that ridiculous 5 page bunch of gobbledegook. It was the first village board meeting I'd been to, and I sat there thinking...these are the people charged w/governing PY???

By the way Brockman's letter was full of legal lies. Yes, it was proven to be full of lies. But hey, what the mayor wants Brokman provides. He's a hack!!!

I'm sorry, I thought you were a regular since you have made many posts about the ex-mayor and others hanging out there. Must have been by chance sightings. I should be more careful about drawing such conclusions...no offense was intended Daisy.

No offense taken. Not a regular but go a few times a year. On any given Fri. eve I've been there the ex-mayor is there. At least he's stopped wearing suits w/shoulder pads. Good grief.

Wrong! That was not the outcome, that was and is the Yates County law, that all bars must close (actually at 8:30pm, 30 minutes after last call), that was always Yates County law, the ABC just reminded Lloyds of that through a letter, that was in no way "the outcome."

William Crowley Jr., spokesperson for the New York State Liquor Authority, says a letter of advice is sent in lieu of charges.

“It is part of the licensee’s record, but not considered disciplinary action against the licensee,” he explained.

For anyone who doesn't know about the incident or can't remember the details, the Chronicle Express wrote a nice recap: http://www.chronicle-express.com/news/x603844297

Like officer Rago, I truly feel Champlin was put in the middle of a pi$$ing match between Mitchell and Marchionda Jr...

I don't know why people want to hate Bob Champlin so much? A proprietor wants to be open to give people an option, go out with friends...

Champlin is told by the Mayor of the Village he operates in that he advised the Chief of Police and responding officer to "leave Lloyds alone for the rest of the night"... He was basically given permission by the Mayor to stay open (whether the Mayor over stepped his boundaries or not is another discussion) and now people want to crucify Bob Champlin in this situation and want him to lose the tool that makes him money (liquor license)? How ridiculous! People want that outcome for one of three reasons 1) they are against people going to the bars, 2) feel everyone should stay at home on Xmass eve because that is their values and beliefs, or 3) a classic example of Penn Yan hatin', people are jealous that he has a successful business, they don't, (or are hatin' for any other number of reasons and want to see Bob crash and burn in any way shape or form.

The outcome was that all bars MUST CLOSE at 830 LAST CALL FOR THOSE THAT NO LIFE at 8,Gene was right. That was not always the law it became law in the early seventies,so I guess you were also WRONG.

What are you talking about? You sound drunker than I am... You replied to Joe Friday who asked what the outcome was, you said the outcome was they must close at 8pm... You were WRONG that was not the outcome as it had been and still is Yates County, so that was not the outcome to the Lloyds incident. ;\)

I beg your pardon that was the outcome Lloyds didn't want to follow the law and close at 830, now after the incident and the ABC investigation they must OBEY THE LAW ALL MUST CLOSE AT 830.

SK2, I doubt anyone wants to see "Bob crash and burn". The only reason we don't go there more often for wings/pizza is it is clearly where the ex-mayor holds court and it's the land of Brockmanville. The facts have been established...there was a local ordinance mandating the early closure on Christmas Eve. Did the owner of Lloyd's know about this? He should have, being a bar owner. Did the then mayor over step his bounds? You betcha! PYPD was just trying to enforce what they're charged w/enforcing. Do I agree w/how Officer Rago played it out? I wasn't there, but if the accounts in the media are at all accurate, absolutely not.
Meet ya'll down at Lloyd's for some popcorn?

King,
You could not be further from the turth. I have known Bobby all my life. I would never want to see him or anyone else lose their business. I agree the NYS law regarding closing bars at 8:00 pm is absurd. There are plenty of people who have no family, and no place to go on Xmas eve. They want to go to a bar for company (so not to be alone and depressed). I don't know about the pissing match but I do believe the Mayor over stepped his bounds. Rago and Gene were just doing their jobs.

Beeba24, The outcome was that the ABC sent the owner of Lloyds a [i]"Letter of Advice notifying him that he must observe specific closing hours or risk disciplinary action by the authority."
