Central New York residents win agriculture awards

Some Central New York residents received awards at the annual meeting of the New York State Agricultural Society held Thursday at the Holiday Inn in Salina.

Century Farms: These are farms operated by the same family on the same site for 100 or more years.

Lagoner Farms in Williamson, Wayne County... was named a Century Farm and was established in 1909 as a 50-acre site with cash crops. Today there are more than 200 acres growing tree fruits such as apples, cherries and pears.
