Where's the proof? I haven't seen anything factual. Only BS from ZW that they can't prove.

why does canandaigua not discharge into canandaigua lake if the leachate is so 'clean'?

Louis Loy, director of Canandaigua’s Public Works Department, said that the city’s wastewater treatment plant has been taking “a couple of truckloads a day” of 8,000 to 10,000 gallons of leachate from the landfill since early April.

“We just went on line with a 100,000-gallon storage tank for leachate so we can add it at a rate that won’t upset the treatment process,” Loy said.

When the Geneva plant underwent upgrades, the leachate went to Canandaigua and soon Casella had the choice of both city’s treatment plants.

After the Geneva City Council turned down the dedicated line last fall, Casella approached Canandaigua in January about taking the leachate.

Loy said the Canandaigua plant discharges into a feeder canal that flows into several canals and rivers that meander through several counties, ending in the Oswego River and flowing into Lake Ontario.

He said the plant does not discharge into Canandaigua Lake, the city’s drinking water source. He said he can understand concerns about discharging into Geneva’s drinking water source, Seneca Lake, despite the distance from the discharge point to the water intake.

The WWTP is downstream from the lake obviously. Oh by the way the figure for the loss of leachate revenue to the city of Geneva is $300,000. Thanks ZW you really helped out Geneva didn't you.

and how many gallons of leachate does that translate into if $0.005/gallon was being paid?

Do the math. $.02/ gallon to get $300,000 in revenue is how many gallons? Let's see if you can get the correct figure?

Yeah, but is it lower than Seneca Lake, which is what was of concern in the comment in your bolded section? City of Canandaigua is at 787 ft., Canandaigua Lake is 688, and Seneca lake is 440 ft..

15 million gallons of toxic leachate per year

are you just mad that you now have to pay canandaigua double?

you shorted geneva when you paid only half of the needed amount to process leachate

$300,000 per year you shorted geneva so you caused the rate increase over 10 years .....$ 3 million dollars

You are wacked out! How do you get 15 million gallons? Where did you go to school? The price in Canandaigua is half a cent more. The price was set by Geneva and they made money. The shortfall is caused by people like you and your buddies at ZW who don't have a clue what the hell they are talking about. Also the people on city council who are stupid enough to listen to you idiots instead of the people who run the WWTP.

My mickey mouse calculator gets the same number everytime. so who's the wackjob?

Now, if Timmy took the westbound train going 55 mph at 2pm and June took an eastbound train at 3pm going 70 mph, how far apart would they be on October 15th?

Anyone?

I know for a fact that OC landfill does't produce 15 million gallons of leachate a year. My question to the city manager would be then how did you arrive at the $300,000 figure?
