O, gee! A city manager lying about figures? That's a suprize. If we didn't get 15million gallons, then what did we receive last year, wiseguy? Cassella should be able to provide those figures.
Maybe the GNRC is receiving the leachate and storing it under the gas station? Conspiracy theorists want to know!

#1 Genevan is wrong about Canandaigua not wanting the leachate #2 Bluezone is correct about the Math #3 The leachate is under 15,000,000 gallons #4 The City Manager stated before that the City would lose the reduced rates they are getting on waste if they don't take the leachate (this may be part of the $300,000 that is budgeted) #5 When you are mistaken, just admit it (hint to Wiseguy1). Everyone makes mistakes. #6 Let's see if anyone can admit if they were wrong......Tick Tock....Tick Tock.....

Louis Loy, director of Canandaigua’s Public Works Department, said that the city’s wastewater treatment plant has been taking “a couple of truckloads a day” of 8,000 to 10,000 gallons of leachate from the landfill since early April.
And that’s because the landfill — operated on behalf of the county by Casella Waste Management — is trucking most of its leachate to the Canandaigua city wastewater treatment plant. That’s despite the fact Geneva charges less at 1 or 1.5 cents per gallon versus Canandaigua’s 2 cents a gallon.
10,000 gallons per day x 6 days = 60,000 gallons of leachate per week 60,000 x 52 weeks = 3,120,000 gallons of leachate per year 3,120,000 x .01 = $31,200 revenue for geneva per year

The leachate may have been 10,000 gallons per day at the time of the article, but historically, they take in quite a bit more then that. It should be at least 10,000,000 gallons per year. Also, the rate is not $.01.

GENEVA — The 260,000-gallon holding tank at the city’s wastewater treatment plant, built to store leachate from the Ontario County Landfill, is just about empty.
“It’s a financial decision, both currently and long term,” said Jerry Leone, Casella’s regional engineer. “Plus, we do not feel we have a partner in Geneva regarding leachate. We want to foster a partnership, not tear it apart.”
“Canandaigua is roughly the same distance for our trucks as Geneva. We’re happy with Canandaigua,” Leone said, noting the company is still evaluating other leachate options such as pre-treatment or its own treatment plant.
Louis Loy, director of Canandaigua’s Public Works Department, said that the city’s wastewater treatment plant has been taking “a couple of truckloads a day” of 8,000 to 10,000 gallons of leachate from the landfill since early April.
“We just went on line with a 100,000-gallon storage tank for leachate so we can add it at a rate that won’t upset the treatment process,” Loy said.
When the Geneva plant underwent upgrades, the leachate went to Canandaigua and soon Casella had the choice of both city’s treatment plants.
After the Geneva City Council turned down the dedicated line last fall, Casella approached Canandaigua in January about taking the leachate.
Loy said the Canandaigua plant discharges into a feeder canal that flows into several canals and rivers that meander through several counties, ending in the Oswego River and flowing into Lake Ontario.
He said the plant does not discharge into Canandaigua Lake, the city’s drinking water source. He said he can understand concerns about discharging into Geneva’s drinking water source, Seneca Lake, despite the distance from the discharge point to the water intake

Thanks.
The article is wrong on the price, and like I said the leachate is hitorically much higher.

You are right I did error on the math. It is not 10 million gallons per year not even close. You are right on the discounted waste. I think Geneva was getting charged almost nothing for waste disposal. Now they are paying the going rate.
