Auburn Police need public's help locating stolen property

buy this photo Contributed Photo The Auburn Police Department is requesting the public's assistance in locating metal braces, brackets and clamps stolen from a Clark Street building within the last several months. Anyone with information should contact the Auburn Police Department at 253-3231.

Metal equipment used in the concrete forming process was stolen from a storage facility and the Auburn Police Department needs your help finding the equipment and the person or persons responsible.

Police were dispatched to a storage facility where a local contractor stores their equipment. It was discovered that between 3 and 5 tons of metal braces, brackets and clamps were stolen along with a metal rebar. The estimated value of the equipment exceeds $10,000.

Authorities say the thefts occurred over the last several months and those responsible for stealing the metal drove inside the building where the metal equipment was stored in 55-gallon drums.

The suspected motive of the thefts, Police say, is to scrap the metal for money.

If you have any information regarding this case, please contact the Auburn Police Department at (315) 253-3231 or lead investigator, Detective Kyle Platt, at (315) 255-4702. Your calls can remain anonymous.

Probably stolen by the same people who stole that 2 ton snow plow from the Finger Lakes Mall parking lot over the winter. For the same purpose too...
