Just noticed their ad today for a new Mexican restaurant on Maiden Lane. Anyone tried it yet?

The food was good and they did a nice job putting the place together. At least it isn't another pizza or Chinese place!

I had no idea it was there until someone told me! Talk about a place you have to know about! You can pass the place and not even know it unless you are looking for it!

I hope it lasts, I like Mexican food. Is it actually Mexicans running the place or Penn Yan people? I like authentic food. ;\)

Joe, unfortunately Pizza and Chinese is what sells in this town, we've seen many others try and go in this town! ..anything else seems like a gamble.

Personally I'd also love a nice burger or steak place!!!

I have not yet tried it but plan to soon, however the comments I have heard have not been good. It looks great and has a good feel to it but I have been told the food was not very good. Like I said i will have to try it in order for me to form my own opinion.

I feel the same way, the rumor mill IMHO has killed many good businesses in town.

Is the whole building the restaurant? I was told just half? Is anything or anybody planning on opening anything there? It's nice to see business opening away from Main, Liberty and Lake... That's a nice little area there for restaurants.

Too bad they tore down the old Village offices/store fronts there, I always thought with a little rehab on the store fronts, the Village could have offered incentives for small business to move in (like no money upfront or something) and a few mom and pop stores could have moved in and we would actually have a reason to go to Maiden Lane. Oh well...

I agree anything would be nice there, but the soil is contaminated, and the property owner would have to have it removed b-4 construction,at their. My guess thats why it remains vacant.

Yes, I have tried the restaurant a couple of times. Great work on the inside, but there is something lacking with menu and food. I do realize that they were waiting for their alcohol license but a new place has to be excellent to survive.

Hey, I had take out from here tonight. First time I was in there and the building renovation is great. The meal was out of this world and the best Mexican food I've had since I taught in San Diego, Cal. I ordered dinner for 2 of us consisting of Chicken Quesadillas, Taco Salad and Chicken Fajitas. The quanity was ample and there's enough food for the two of us for another meal. Service was great with a very personable waitress.

We have to be careful of how hot stuff it. One of the cooks allowed me to sample the pico de gallo but it was to hot for my taste so he offered extra sour cream which was okay with me. When they brought my order out the owner (I think) brought out the makings of the pico de gallo without the peppers. A very nice gesture and greatly appreciated. I plan on being a repeat customer and I would recommend it to everyone.
