It's an almost "why bother?" We reelected Moooney, the idiot who supports the mining.

The Town of Waterloo signed an agreement that allows the mining operation in exchange for cash to the Town....

Simple as that.....enjoy your new "recreational pond" Waterloo......

We were unfortunate, Mooneys challenger seemed just as wishy washy, as Mooney is greedy.

I don't travel 96. I'll have to check it out. Ok, this question will get me in trouble. Well, here it goes....Why does it matter?

It would matter to me if 96 was muddy and I had to drive through it. Clay is rather moist so why would it be dusty? I don't condone the mining, I just don't know why it's a problem. 96 is a well traveled road for trucks so that shouldn't bother anyone. Ok, let me have it.

I'm always happy to give ZGL a laugh

It will leave a hole 40 plus feet deep. And cover somewhere near 150 plus square acres. Just the noise of the mining operation, with in 1 1/2 miles of the four corners of downtown Waterloo, will be enough to cause neighbors aggravation. And now that we have taken all that land out of use, forever, where is any possible future growth north for Waterloo? They say there are "No Landfills" permitted in Waterloo. But town boards rewrite laws and regulations all the time. Jim Money I mean Mooney got re-elected and he is for the proposed mine. A while ago when Waterloo residents complained that Seneca Falls was getting money from Seneca Meadows, yet the trash was affecting us more than them, they were outraged. So our town officials held out their hand for a slice of the pie. The real issue that bothered Waterloo the most was the landfill expansion period, end of story. The town of Seneca Falls wants it let them have it in their back yard not ours. So on our behalf the Community Benefits Agreement was signed. They caught the part about no landfills in Waterloo, but missed the boat on the strip mine. Now at the 11 1/2 hour the area neighbors are fighting to stop it, and the ones who signed it are either too embarrassed to admit they missed it, or just plain don't care. Ever dive by the gravel pits on 96 and wonder how that would look as farm land? Well unless a lot more people in Waterloo wake up, that is what we will be wondering right at the end of Virginia Street.

Lusi, the proposed mine is not in the town; it is within the village boundaries, and that's a no-no.

CodeRed: It is clear from the election as well as a long laundry list of other issues that the citizens of Waterloo are and always have been in a mode of thinking that says "let someone else worry about stopping that/changing that."

I'll buy you lunch if you can wake enough people of Waterloo up to do anything. Just look at how many voted vs. how many can vote. It's always the same.

SM and Mr. Gentilcore know it, understand it and count on our continued small-mindedness.

In that area the Village is in the Town Boundries....
