New farmers market in Sodus
Opening Wednesday, June 17 and running Wednesdays through Oct. 14, a new farmers market in Sodus will serve the Sodus\Williamson area.
Market will open from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Belden Avenue parking lot of the United Third Methodist Church in Sodus.
The market is an approved Farmers Market Nutrition Program, which means that farmers who apply may accept FMNP, senior nutrition checks, as well as WIC checks.
Many fruits and vegetables will be available, as they come into season. Handmade items will also be offered. From time to time there will be advertised special events. One planned is a special flea market Wednesday.
The market has enough vendors at this point to open. However, there is still more space available. Farmers/gardeners selling high quality locally grown fruits and vegetables and vendors selling homemade crafts may apply. No flea market type items will be sold, except during advertised special events. Prepared foods may also be sold, if vendors meet New York state laws that apply. Cost to set up is $5 per week.
