I've heard that Doogie isn't running again.. Wouldn't Vice Mayor Allison be the next in line? Nancy Tayor and Bob Hoban are also up for election. It might be time to get a lot of new blood on the board.

While we're at who's running for DA? The ADA is going around like he will be the successor in line be DA... Do we want 4 more years of what Lindenmouths office has shown they are about? It's time we show these people that they have to EARN the vote... This is one office hat needs fresh blood! Any ideas of who would like to be our DA?

Cook announces plans to seek District Attorney's seat
By ProvidedJason Cook By Staff reports The Chronicle-Express Tue May 19, 2009, 03:35 PM EDT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yates County, N.Y. - First Assistant District Attorney Jason Cook has announced his plans to seek election to the Yates County District Attorney’s office. Cook, a Republican, formally announced his plans on May 15. District Attorney Susan Lindenmuth had previously announced her intention to retire and to not seek reelection this fall. She was first elected to the post in 1995.
Cook has been assistant district attorney for Yates County for seven years. He has been first assistant district attorney for six of those years. Previously, he served as an assistant district attorney for Steuben County, and as chief assistant district attorney for Schuyler County. He received his bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College and his law degree from Dickinson School of Law.
“I have spent my career as a prosecutor, seeking justice for the community, and I believe I have the experience and qualifications to be the next Yates County District Attorney,” says Cook.
Public service and Yates County roots run deeply in Cook’s family. Both of his grandfathers, the late Les Cook and the late Gilbert Smith were well-known members of the community. Les Cook was a longtime Yates County Highway Superintendent and Gilbert Smith was a member, then chairman, of the Yates County Legislature. Both of Cook’s parents, Lee and Beverly Cook grew up in Penn Yan and graduated from Penn Yan Academy.
Cook’s candidacy was recently endorsed by the New York State Police Investigator’s Association, which has over 1200 members statewide.
The Association rated Cook as “an outstanding and most qualified candidate, with an extensive background in being a prosecutor.”
Cook says, “I am honored and pleased to have received such an enthusiastic endorsement from the New York State Police Investigators Association, especially since it is based in large part on the recommendations of Investigators from this area, Troop E of the New York State Police. I have worked closely with the investigators on numerous felony cases throughout my career. They have seen firsthand my knowledge, experience and dedication to justice.”

Oh my god! In towns this small do we need a republican and democrat candidate? Let all qualified candidates line up, and let us pick from that. This is a position where I really care less about party affiliation...
Cook = 4 mores years of what Lyndenmouth has to offer (unless he makes it clear he's different). I don't know anything about Cook but the fact he works in this DA's office learning from her, is enough to make me not for him!
Brockman = well the thought is scary... Actually it wouldn't be any different if someone cannot afford an attorney they may get a fair chance if Brockman is no longer the public defender. Is Brockman going to do if a defense attorney doesn't agree to whatever he wants? hat seems to be all he does as public defender.
I also have a feeling if Brockman is the DA every indictment will be 5 pages.
Seriously though, this community should look for QUALIFIED Defense or ADA's from around the State who have dealt with real crime and courts not our 3 ring circus and convince them to move to Yates County and run for DA! An outsider in this position would be a breath of fresh air IMO...

Does Willie want to be Mayor? He seems to be really busy. His Trustee seat is up in March. He can't run for both Mayor and Trustee at the same time. If he runs for Mayor and loses, then he is off the board.
