Feet - 07/28/05 08:04 AM

I have pain on the back of my heal all the time. Hurts more when I get up in the morning and after I sit for a few minutes. Walking makes it feel better, but it won't go away. Anyone else have this?

Re: Feet - 07/28/05 08:28 AM

By "back" do you mean on the bottom of the heel, or the area of the Achilles tendon?

Re: Feet - 07/28/05 08:41 AM

Get arch supports and never go barefoot. I had the same problem a few years back. I don't remember the exact name of the condition, but it is a result of the arch falling. The tendon that runs through the arch begins to shrink and where it attaches to your heel and the ball of your foot, it rips away, causing the pain. The doctor I went to recommended I get the Spenco Orthotic insoles. They are a hard plastic insole that doesn't give. Amazing how much better my feet felt after using them. They are a bit expensive. I think the last pair I bought were around 25 bucks.

see a doc and it's like a bone spur, most gout happens in the toes if I recall correctly, but a doc can diagnose it and help you !

Hey wait, unless you are a doctor, maybe you should not give a definite diagnosis, and even a doctor will not do that without seeing the patient. So, the best advise would be to contact your GP who can refer you in the right direction. Good Luck!

Re: Feet - 07/30/05 09:57 AM

It sounds like you have a case of plantar fascitis. A condition that is common on the bottom of the foot. After years of walking with bad shoes and no arch support, the tissue below your foot can become tight and flare up. In some cases this will case pressure on your heel which can result in a bone spur (Wolfe's Law). Some cases though can just be the fascia that is causing pain. Correcting the problem can help and almost full relief can be seen.

you need to see a physician who will correctly diagnose this problem. if needed, she/he can refer you to a podiatrist to further treat your issue.

Re: Feet - 08/14/05 12:09 PM

I agree with you on that. Thats always the way. Women in the work place are always bitching, pissing and sniping about something. You never know which version of them will walk through the door. Their emotions are ruled by the gravitational pull of the moon or some other strange unfathomable force that makes them squirrely and as unpredictable as the wind. In any given day Ive seen them fluctuate between happy as a lark to silly almost giddy to miserable and bitchy and then back again. Yes Sassy I know what you're saying and fully agree with you. In the past Ive switched them to decaf thinking that the silly creatures did not need the caffiene, but one caught on after about six months.

I cannot wear the things anymore, not that I miss that all that much. But stillettos are not good for tha back at all.
At 5' 1 and 1/2" I used to love heels, but stopped wearing them when I became a nurse for the most part. Only wore them on special occassions, but now I have to stick to very low heeled shoes. Sneakers are the best for me, but when I dress up they are very low heeled.

Re: Feet - 08/16/05 10:40 AM

Well, for one thing, I am not spreading cheer at any work place at the moment. Then again, to work in stillettos while being on my feet all day is not my idea of good tidings. A short tight, dress would not allow for ease of movement and flexibility needed as nurse.
I can tell you though, that dirty old men in nursing homes, like nurses in scrubs just as well as in tight mini dresses. I have been goosed, pinched, smacked, whisteld at and grabbed by these men in wheelchairs and who seemingly are not able to move so quickly.
I can imagine what they would go for if I were in a short short dress.
