Who is smarter than a 5th grader? - 03/30/07 01:50 AM

Answer this question-

What did Albany (NY) used to be named?

determine right or wrong....if right, write another "grade school" question for someone else- (lets see if this works)
(looking at your children's HW will help!)

Albany is built on the site of the Dutch Fort Orange, and its surrounding community of Beverwyck. The English acquired the site from the Dutch in 1664 and renamed it Albany, in honor of James II, Duke of Albany.

What is the largest mammal in the world (living today)?

Be specific.

Re: Who is smarter than a 5th grader? - 03/30/07 12:52 PM

The Blue Whale, Balaenoptera musculus, is the largest mammal living today. It is also the largest mammal to have ever lived. In fact the Blue whale is the largest animal ever to have lived on the planet as far as we know; bigger by far than ever the largest Dinosaur. The longest Blue Whale ever measured was a female, 33.58 m or 110ft long. The heaviest weighed over 190 tonnes. We haven't actually got a set of weighing scales big enough so weights are estimated from the cut up remains.

New Amsterdam is present day New York City. The entire colony was New Netherlands or New Holland until the British took it in 1664.

Re: Who is smarter than a 5th grader? - 03/30/07 05:56 PM

New Amsterdam became the City of New York after the British took control.
George Clinton was the governor of New York from 1777 - 1795 & 1801 - 1804, therefore he was the governor of the colony of New York, the state of New York under the Articles of Confederation and after we ratified the U.S. Constitution.

Even though the country had been inhabited by Indians for many centuries, Christopher Columbus has became famous as the man who "discovered" America in 1492. However, he was not even the first European to reach the North American continent. The first Europeans, the Vikings, arrived in North America in the 11th century. They had settlements in parts of present-day Canada for a short while, but their presence in America went by quite
unnoticed.

Re: Who is smarter than a 5th grader? - 03/31/07 01:03 PM

Good answer brother bear. I thought that might be a little harder to answer.

and to answer your question: The Greatest Common Factor is the factor that shows up the most in two or more numbers. For example, the GCF of 12 and 30 is 6. A good way to find the GCF is to list all of the common factors. For example, the common factors of 12 and 30 are 2, 3 and 6. Six is the gratest,
so it is the gratest common factor.
