Title of Harry Potter 7 revealed - 12/27/06 10:52 AM

Author JK Rowling has revealed the title of the seventh and final Harry Potter book

It will be called Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The announcement was made on the writer's official website.

Despite the publication date not being known, the book is tipped to be a big seller, like the rest in the series

Speculation about the plot has surrounded the book after Rowling admitted two characters will die - some think it could be Harry Potter himself.

I have a theory about who'll die-I think this last book will be about the redemption of Severus Snape-a character that has been ambiguous at best, and has a huge goth following. (Spoiler alert: If you haven't read "HP and The Half-Blood Prince" don't read any further.)
Even tho it looks like Snape murdered a major character in the last book, appearances have been deceiving in this series before and when the truth about his actions becomes clear, he may be killed by you-know-who-possibly saving Potter at the same time. As to the other death, your guess is as good as mine-altho I'd love to see Lucious Malfoy get his.( Maybe he'd leave me his super-cool silver snake's head cane.)

I went to her website and yep, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows...okaaa-ay...that's a clue as it is. Halloween is Hallow Ev'en, and remember, that at the end of the book, Harry is getting very curious about the passed on souls and why one returns and other's do not hang around as ghosts.
Remember he was persistent in asking the house ghost headless someone(I can't recall the name) even despite the ghosts protestations that he couldn't answer.
And the girl knew more than Harry did, and answered more on the train back to the station.

I always liked Snape, I never thought he was one of the bad guys. I always felt he had a special purpose.

Re: Title of Harry Potter 7 revealed - 12/28/06 08:25 AM

Yeah, me too. Not just because Alan Rickman is so perfectly cast and wonderful in the role in the films, but because Snape is an outsider and always has been, not unlike Harry. There has always been an implication that Harry could be as powerful as Voldemort, especially if he turned to the dark side-that's why Voldemeort fears him so much. Snape is sort of an illustration of where Harry could go, without the right kind of guidance. "Half Blood Price" also showed a sympathetic view of Draco Malfoy, who could also become a victim of his family's ambitions. I love the fact that these books are complex and drawn in shades of grey-kind of like life.

Re: Title of Harry Potter 7 revealed - 12/29/06 08:56 AM

The last book really wowed me with it's depiction of Severus Snape and I absolutely CANNOT wait for his redemption - as soon as I closed the last book I said "He didn't do it." I think it was a MAJOR misdirection from Rowling and I think he is going to emerge as a real hero in the end. And you are right - Alan Rickman is PERFECT for the role. Tim Roth was originally slated for it but I think Rickman is better - Roth would have been too much I think.

I got the whole shebang on amazon.com last year for my niece. Free shipping on most orders over $25, which this would be.

Re: Title of Harry Potter 7 revealed - 01/01/07 07:20 AM

I remember when the craze first started, and JK had mentioned that she had already planned all 7 of the books, but now it seems that she keeps adding to them. They better release something soon, before the interest dies out completely. There is something to be said for good marketing strategy, but too long and people lose momentum, and interest. I now have to go back and re-read that last one, so I am 'fresh" for the new release.

Just a thought and I know people love the series, but writing quality fiction ie the kind of thing you want to read is a time and soul consuming thing. You have qick novels and good novels, butnot that many good, quick novels.

I will try and wait patiently

These books are woth waiting for-regular play of the movies on stations like ABC Family keep the interest alive-and I will have to re-read "Half-Blood Prince" again before the next book launches-probably in June/July of '07.

i plan on re-reading all 6 books before book 7 is released

no doubt a june/juky date - i would guess before july 13th - which is when the new movie comes out... though after would make sense too... 1 driving the sales of the other

I can't wait to see who they cast as the new characters in "Order of the Phoenix." I really wanted to see Patricia Routledge-("Hyacinth Bucket" on "Keeping Up Appearances") play Professor Umbridge, but the clip I saw doesn't look like her. ( Judi Dench could play it, too.)I think lots of British actors are falling all over themselves to get into these movies. Can't wait!

She looks all wrong. Maybe it'll be better in the movie. I had my issues at first with the casting of Hermoine, but I have grown to love her. She just was too pretty and cute. The book character was truly transformed in the Goblet of Fire but in the movie it wasn't such a "stunner". Oh well. Time will certainly tell.

Re: Title of Harry Potter 7 revealed - 01/03/07 08:16 PM

I dont think she si "round" enough... Professor Umbridge is suppose t5o look like a rount toadstool... from the photos i've seen - not even close... i dont even remember the bow on teh top of her head - which she is also suppose to have and always wears

Re: Title of Harry Potter 7 revealed - 01/04/07 01:54 PM

I know someone who fits the description, so I am sure that if they had looked hard enough they could have found someone even if they didn't have formal training. I have seen formally trained actors that are terrible.

Re: Title of Harry Potter 7 revealed - 01/05/07 09:05 AM

Interesting-I've seen Imelda Staunton do some good work-most recently in "Nanny Mcphee"-I'll reserve judgement until I've seen the film. (I HATE Harry's short haircut, though!)

Re: Title of Harry Potter 7 revealed - 01/06/07 07:17 PM

i loved Nanny McPhee... Imelda was also in national lampoons blackball which was funny as all heck. Also from Nanny McPhee is Emma Thompson (who played the title role) as Professor Sybil Trelawney.

As far as how Umbridge will look in the new HP movie will debend on what special effects will have done before it's release. but here is one offical still showing her.. at least she is in pink - but where is her bow????

I've loved all the casting so far, and I have faith they'll continue to cast the right actors for the part.

Re: Title of Harry Potter 7 revealed - 01/07/07 11:58 AM

I am sure Imelda Staunton can act/live up for the role of Prof. Umbridge. In fact, i too have loved the casting for all the role thrus far, except i think Matthew Lewis (AKA Neville Longbottom) has gotten to thin for his role and Hermione (Emma Watson) is too "pretty" for hers, but that has nothing to do with how the play their roles - of which i think they are brillant at.

I didnt agree with a lot of the costuming in Prisoner of Azkaban and i think here too might be mostly what i'm not liking. Not the actors fault how they're dressed!

Re: Title of Harry Potter 7 revealed - 01/08/07 03:20 PM

The young actress who plays Ginny Weasly may have to be re-cast if she didn't turn out to be a stunner-future love interest and all that. These kids were so young when they were cast, it's hard to predict how they'll age. ( Both Danny Bonaduce and Robert Blake were cute kid stars and look how they grew up!)
