Gotta love football - 08/16/10 08:03 PM

Anyone just see Eli Manning get CRUSHED!?!?!

He go JACKED UP!

Re: Gotta love football - 08/16/10 08:07 PM

Saw it. Gotta rethink my fantasy football draft list. Was looking at him for a backup QB.

Re: Gotta love football - 08/17/10 08:53 AM

He's fine. 12 stiches in the forehead, no concussion. He said if it was a real game he would have/ could have came back in to play.

Re: Gotta love football - 08/17/10 09:03 AM

"No concussion.'

I don't believe it. Did you see that hit? If he has no concussion from that, then he must have no brain to get bruised.

Re: Gotta love football - 08/17/10 09:23 AM

Yes I saw it I watched the game. The announcers on ESPN are the ones who reported exactly what I said in my post. It was in the 4th quarter they said it, maybe you had quit watching by then ?.
Posted by: twocats

Re: Gotta love football - 08/17/10 09:35 AM

\:\) No I believe you. I read that too, but I think he's lying because of all the new concussion rules they have now.

PS Yes, I quit watching at the end of the 1st quarter.

Re: Gotta love football - 08/17/10 09:38 AM

That was sweet!! Me thinks ElI needs a tighter helmet! lol
Posted by: RedGreen

Re: Gotta love football - 08/17/10 10:50 AM

Perhaps, but I'm thinking his helmet did it's job by protecting him enough to somehow not get a concussion.

On a side note how about that rookie WR Victor Cruz? 3 TD catches including a sick 1 hander.

Re: Gotta love football - 08/17/10 10:54 AM

Yeah, I love it when undrafted players make a name for themselves. They tend to stay great players too, maybe because they feel like they have to prove themselves--ALL NFL players should have that same attitude.
Posted by: RedGreen

Re: Gotta love football - 08/17/10 11:10 AM

I agree. I hope they give him some reps with the 1st team this week in practice, and the game next weekend. The kid looks like a playmaker.

Yeah that kid looked awesome! That 1 hander was cool, he was in the zone for sure.

I'd like to see Teebow play.

That said, watched the HOF game, was pretty cool.
Posted by: RedGreen

Re: Gotta love football - 08/17/10 06:50 PM

Tebow got booed badly when he came in the other night lol but he did ok. Something like 8/13. I love his desire, he just plowed over and through a safety to score a rushing TD on the games last play.

Re: Gotta love football - 08/21/10 04:27 PM

The Pittsburgh Steelers One thing to look for in tonight's Steelers game -- Isaac Redman will play some fullback against the Giants, and he will be used some in the same backfield with Rashard Mendenhall. This is something the Steelers refer to as their pony backfield, where either player could end up running the ball.

Redman is a 2009 undrafted free agent, hired for the practice squad last year. I'm expecting good things.

Nothing like it. Never forget when Sam Adams ran one back into the endzone. Had to look at the jumbotron three times!

Re: Gotta love football - 08/21/10 07:03 PM

At Heinz Field, there are 2 giant ketchup bottles on each side of the jumbotron. They fill up when Pitt gets in the Red Zone.

There is nothing like an NFL game at the stadium. So intense.

Re: Gotta love football - 08/23/10 04:33 PM

ouch.

OAKLAND , (CA)--Oakland Raiders football practice was delayed nearly two hours today after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field. Head coach Art Shell immediately suspended practice and called the police and federal investigators. After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to players was the GOAL LINE. Practice resumed after special agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again.

Ravens, Steelers Renew Hate-fest
by Alan Robinson

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Ravens-Steelers rivalry is short in length, starting only in 1996. The memories it has already created seem inordinately long, especially in the minds of those who played in compelling games that were tight and tense, absorbed hits that hurt for weeks and sustained losses that ended seasons.

The Ravens ridiculing Plaxico Burress as being "Plexiglas." Joey Porter levelling a near-defenseless Todd Heap. Troy Polamalu running through half of Baltimore on an interception that sent the Steelers to the Super Bowl. Alleged bounties posted by the Ravens against the much-despised Hines Ward. Tons of trash talking. Ray Lewis ending Rashard Mendenhall's rookie season with a hit that be could be heard in Heinz Field's upper deck.

Pick any adjective: nasty, spiteful, hateful - they all apply. With apologies to the Packers-Bears, Cowboys-Redskins and Giants-Eagles, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin calls it the NFL's best rivalry, if only because all its games are the same. They're close and physical beyond compare, with neither team straying from a game plan that demands ultra-tight defense and a strong running game.

Oh boy, this is gonna be a looooong week!

If my memory is correct, I recall being at Heinz Field for a playoff game a few years ago. Some kicker missed a short field goal at the very end of the game and ANOTHER one with barely any time left on the clock. Yup, That's right, that was against the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets, wasn't it. Hope you enjoyed the run; everyone's gotta go home some time. \:D

Oh! Here it is! I remember this game well. I was there! \:\)

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/6830760/
The Jets will wonder for years why they’re not going to the AFC title game. (Is this true? Did it haunt them for years?)

(PS I can't believe I'm trash talking. I try so hard to NOT do that because I hate having to eat my own words, but this time, I just couldn't resist.)

Re: Gotta love football - 01/17/11 08:18 AM

I LOVE trash talking about football...probably because I RARELY get a chance too \:\(

It's inevitable.... by this time next week you or I will be eating crow for breakfast.

Yes I remember it all too well \:\( Actually the jets haven't had a decent place kicker since Pat Leahy. I am scared to death for next week.... if it comes down to a field goal we are GUARANTEED to lose I hope the Jets spend some time in the off-season looking for a new kicker!

I just hope it's a good game, I don't want to see a massacre!

I have been a jets fan for roughly 30 years ...disappointing years I made add. I have seen them CHOKE so many times it's not funny. Last week was a good game and they were fired up to revenge the pummeling they took a few weeks prior. My fear for Sunday is them being cocky and over confident because of beating Pittsburgh once already this season. Like I said before....if it comes down to a field goal we are screwed! \:\(

Scottie, ain't lookin' too good. Hang in there, fella. Just an observation, but I was glad to see the Jets and Steelers took off their hats and held their hands over their hearts during Martina's singing of the National Anthem. Total disrespect by not doing so by the Packers and Bears in the first game.

Ok TwoCats you got me on that one

Considering I wasn't even alive yet when the Jets went to their only Super Bowl I am starting to think it won't happen in my lifetime \:\( Unlike the Bills fans I am going to stay with my team through thick and thin and or foot fetishes LOL I have to admit Rex's wife does have some sexy feet

Have they considered asking Joe Namath to come out of retirement??? Brett Favre can do it every other week, why can't "Broadway Joe"???

I wish I had been alive for that Super Bowl.... nothing would of made me happier than seeing Don Shula eating crow! I have ALWAYS hated him!

The fact that when they have a losing season they can't even give away tickets and the games get blacked out. Ganggreen fans on the other hand still show up but wear bags over their heads

I am probably not watching the Superbowl.... I am not a fan of either team...One has a quarterback that *snuffs* an autograph seeking cancer survivor and the other that has a rapist quarterback \:\/
